Yesterday, I published on "Great AI Bubble". Today, Silicon Valley's Dr Evil dumps his stock
I bigged up that chart yesterday for the way it translates a whole lot of complicated financial deals into an image even us normies can understand: a circular economy supported by breathless articles about the uber-bros who believe they are capturing the future.
But hereâs another image to burn into your eyeballs. This is the change in Peter Thielâs share holdings that was revealed today. Second from the bottom youâll see âNVDAâ. Thatâs Nvidia, and the words next to it: âSOLD ALLâ.
Or as Investing.com put it, heâs dumped the stock owing to âbubble fearsâ. It calculates the sale at roughly $100m. And Thiel didnât stop there, he also slashed his holding in Elon Muskâs Tesla and liquidated his shares in energy company Vistra.
Thiel, a keen chess player, who prides himself on his ability to think twelve steps ahead seems to believe thereâs a bloodbath coming. If it is a bloodbath - and thatâs what the experts I quoted in my piece yesterday are also saying - then it is a bloodbath that Peter Thiel, an early investor in OpenAI, helped create. And which, he now, will in some way or another be looking both to profit from and control.
This October, Nvidia became the worldâs first $5 trillion company. But it was also the worldâs first $4 trillion company, a landmark it reached just a few months earlier in July this year. And thatâs just two years after it hit what was then considered a huge milestone: $1 trillion.
This isnât so much âgrowthâ as cancer. Thereâs nothing healthy about a share price that looks like a late-stage diagnosis. Nvidia is at the centre of a game of musical chairs that is holding up most of the US stock market. And the experts that I quote in my piece say is that at some point the music has to stop.
The fact that itâs Nvidia and Thiel is what makes this such a toxic combo. Peter Thiel is the ur-broligarch. He cultivates a quasi Bond villain persona with an actual James Bond villainâs lair in New Zealand that he bought in case things get bumpy, which if the global economy was to collapse, would be one description for it. Thielâs surveillance company Palantir, a military contractor to the US and Israeli governments among many others, is not just an intrusive and creepy data harvester, itâs a human rights black hole.

The commissionner asked for their character (well, they're DMing, so their proxy-character) and their partner's character. So here are Salazar, a human magic teacher, and Vistra, a mute Dwarf barbarian. They asked for Vistra eating some pastries she made, offering some to Salazar, who'd be signing "bon appĂŠtit" :)
Salazar's staff is the only thing I didn't design, as the commissionner gave me a specific ref, the Solar Staff from the Griffon's Saddlebag.

Drabble between me and @themisfitsedgeâ Of my girl doll and her girl Vistra!!!
A story of how these two met as kids! Fair warning it is a bit dark, so i apologize.
When they made me I remember it being cold and dark and frightening and painful. I remember them speaking words that I didn't fully grasp, but they werent completely foreign to me either. Everything was strange and new but all too familiar, yet there was nothing I could grab on to. They looked at me and believed I was a toy, believed that I was a doll to use and move and play with. But Iâm not. Iâm me. But they say I'm a failure. I don't feel like a failure, but maybe I am one, I'm not sure but I know
I want to be free, I want to get out of this place, I want
To be somewhere I donât feel the water pressing down upon me, like the weight of the world is on my shoulders. I donât want to feel the weight of my mother's body pushing me down as she teaches me how to fight. I donât want to feel the weight of my sisters crawling on top of me and slamming my face into the mud and muck while I inhale it with each breath I take and it clogs my gills and it clogs my lungs and I cannot breathe but I suppose that is how it was meant to be. And with every breath I take it hurts, not just because Iâm being pushed down by the weight of their oppression, but becauseÂ
I know Iâm out of options.
Today they told me that I was to be sent away to someplace else. Someplace worse. And I don't know if I can handle it. I donât know if I can take the pain, the suffocating agony that I just can't wake up from. But I know nothing else other than this place so what do I do? Do I risk staying or do I risk running away? I don't want to go where they're going to send me, but I don't want to stay here either. But then I look up and I see them leaving the door slightly crackedâŚâŚ..They forgot to shut it all the way. Do I take this chance? Do I go forward? Do I push it aside? Do I want this- I do,Â
Because in this place I will never be who they want me to be.Â
I will never be the perfect daughter, the perfect soldier, the perfect empress, but is that who I want to be? All I know is that I want to be someone that I can be proud of. I want to be the person that I am when I skip out on my lessons and swim away to places Iâve never seen I want to try and play with the other children even though they look at me with fear in their eyes and hate in their hearts as they swim away but maybe just maybe Iâll find someone who understands, who will hold me like my mother was meant to hold me, who will laugh with me like my sisters were meant to laugh with me, and play with me like my friends were meant to play with me. I want to take that part of myself and show it to the world and say here I am,
 I'm ready--
So I take a step forward and I push it aside and I start running down the hall because I don't wanna be here anymore because when Iâm here I feel trapped. I feel like I'm dying every second of every day and even if the world outside is worse at least I'd be choosing something for myself. I feel sick, But still I keep running, I can hear them behind me. I can feel their eyes burning into my back as I race down the maze of corridors.Â
They want to break me, They want to be rid of me. But I am not a toy to be thrown away!
Then I see it, a door to a lab- Pushing over chemicals and burners they spark and light aflame as I scramble toward my one salvation that is the window. I don't want to die. I don't want to be used.
 I don't want
To be a soldier, I don't want to be mommy's perfect little girl, I don't want to watch my sisters cut and bruised and broken because that is how we were raised. I don't want to be that and yet with every lesson they say who I must become, who the world deems I must be, and so when their eyes are turned to the Alpha I run. I run to the calming shores bathed in the light of the setting sun that welcomes me with open arms and kiss my cheeks with the ocean breeze because I wasnât meant to be anywhere except here because I didn't belong but that's fine with me.
but at least now
Finally I scrape through the window, my knees and hands cut and bleeding, it hurts but I push through and fall into the bushes. It hurts but I force myself to stand and I keep running. There's nothing else that I can do. My eyes burn, my feet ache, the smoke claws at my lungs, and heat chases me as I race away from the building, from the lab, from the place that I was made. It hurts to move, but I know I can't stop. My breath is coming out in heavy pants, each one more painful than the last, and yet I have to keep going. Step after step I keep going until I notice that there's no longer smoke burning my lungs, until I can no longer feel the heat of the fire behind me, and soon I smell salt and hear the crashing of waves before me. I look up and I see colors in the sky that I never knew existed. I see sand and crashing waves, blue, glistening, and beautiful. Tears burn like fire down my face but I canât help to smile as I choke on my own sobs. Iâm-Â
 Iâm free!
I think as I crawl up onto the sand, my belly soaked with the dried particles of earth and I take that breath full of air that burns my lungs but God does it feel great because it means that I'm alive and it doesn't feel as thick as the water that I was meant to breathe. And I look around and I feel freedom because this is it! This is life! And as I watch the sunset I swirl around in the sand and I kick it even though it hurts my feet even though it clogs up all of my pores, even though I know it's going to get in my gills, and it will burn but it feels so good because I am doing what I was meant to do. Iâm just being who I was meant to be and so I open my mouth and I scream and I shout because being me is freedom, being me is perfect, being me is amazing.Â
This is amazing.
I turn back to face this beautiful view before me of the sun setting over the waves, something I'd never seen before in my life.
And then I see a girl.
She's battered, she is bruised, she is frightened and so maybe I think it's time to use my voice and say.Â
âHelloâ
You say it back, carefully, slowly, before backing away.. Was she going to hurt you? You don't know, so you dive behind a large boulder, shivering, terrified.
You crawl up onto the boulder as she hides behind it, strange. âWhatâcha doinâ?â
â...H-HidingâŚâ
âFrom who?â
âThe labâŚâ
âWhoâs the lab?â
âIts the place that i came from..it was..bad..â
ââWell who are you?â
âIâm FreyaâŚâ
âWell Freya, are YOU bad?â
â...noâ
âWell not bad Freya! Iâm Vistra! A pleasure to meet yaâ!â
âPleasure to meet you..â And for the first time in your life, you genuinely smile.
