Each year, the World Services for the Blind Foundation selects a distinguished Arkansan with a personal commitment to community service to receive the prestigious Vision Award. This year, the WSB Foundation will honor Reese Rowland, a principal architect with Polk Stanley Wilcox Architects, with the 13th annual Vision Award at an October 23 luncheon. Held at the downtown Little Rock DoubleTree Hotel, the event begins at 11:30 a.m. and ends at 1:00 p.m.

The Vision Award was created to recognize and honor the achievements of an individual who has demonstrated far-reaching vision in successfully orchestrating events through business enterprise and community involvement that better our society for all citizens, both sighted and visually impaired.

A native Arkansan, Rowland has designed some of Little Rock’s most recognizable buildings, including Acxiom’s River Market Tower, Heifer International’s World Headquarters and Education Center, and the city’s new Children’s Library. His commitment to sustainable, innovative architecture has earned him numerous awards over the past decade.

“We’re delighted to present Reese with this honor,” says Clyde Anderson, chairman of this year’s Vision Award committee. “He has literally changed the landscape—and the skyline—of Little Rock by designing structures for organizations that are making a positive impact on the city and around the world.”

Past Vision Award honorees include Dr. Jonathan Bates, Bill Clark, Claiborne Deming, Maria Luisa Haley, Walter Hussman, Jo Luck, Jimmy Moses, Dr. Bobby Roberts, Doyle Rogers, Warren Stephens, Dr. Fitz Hill and Bob Shell.
