H: How would you describe your style?
h thatās a tough one bc I think my style shifted somewhat over the last two years especially and then I also in between change it deliberately to accommodate a certain topic or a mood.
I am always trying to find the balance between giving enough information but not overexplaining things to death, bc that is personally something that tends to rip me out of a story. I also think in general I am more comfortable with writing something straightforward as opposed to more flowery language. I absolutely adore a certain degree of that - but I always feel I canāt pull it off myself. I am also not a super descriptive writer when it comes to surroundings and all the things people could see in a scene - mainly bc those details rarely interest me myself. I am trying to get better at it though. If I write about something pertaining to senses, I tend to automatically go for what people can hear rather than what they see or touch.
On the other hand, I tend to focus on the inner life of characters, the emotions behind something and I am obsessed with getting dialogue just right, especially in a back-and-forth.
L: How many times do you usually revise your fic/chapter before posting?
A couple of times. Depending a bit on how far in advance I am writing. Chapters for a long-story that wonāt get posted for 3-4 months at least usually get a few extra revisions. But Iād say the minimum is 3-5 times at least.
P: Are you what George R. R. Martin would call an āarchitectā or a āgardenerā? (How much do you plan in advance, versus letting the story unfold as you go?)
Architect, hands down. Very rarely do I even start writing something without a solid plan. I did this for FFXIV write this year in September, and I can see in retrospect where I tried toĀ āwrite and seeā and where I didnāt - and I am unsatisfied with the ones that came from the write and see approach. It doesnāt work for me. I need a clear goal. Somewhere I want to be at the end of a chapter/story/scene - and then find a way there that makes sense pacing and storytelling-wise.Ā
Itās sometimes annoying bc I have to put a lot of thought onto paper planning is before I can comfortably write - but on the other hand, I usually have such a detailed plan that I can write whatever scene or even paragraph in whatever order - and they make sense when everything comes together in the end. There was one Kinktober prompt for instance where I couldnāt motivate myself to write bc the beginning/the setup was the most boring bit - so I wrote the ending sentence first, then an emotional highlight in the middle, and then the entire thing backward, paragraph by paragraph and I barely had to adjust anything at the end.Ā
Another approach just stresses me out too much.
T: Any fandom tropes you canāt stand?
Not that I can think of. There are things that I have absolutely no interest in. (but I donāt have a lot of negative feelings about it.) Mainly highschool aus, abo verse things and some minor other ones.
