We arrived at #virginialakes just after the sun dipped below the tall peaks. Being this close to the base of the peaks makes it a challenge to capture the whole scene. I quickly grabbed my wide angle lens and scoped out a location to do a panorama. As I'm lining up each shot I hear @elijahballhere say, "Mat, look over there a coyote!" I turn around to see a coyote trotting off into the trees. For a moment I think should I get my longer lens? No I'm sure he is gone now, I keep shooting. Then out of the corner of my eye I see the coyote come out onto the frozen lake. I yell "shut your freaking mouth" and run towards the car to get my other lens. Once I fired a few shots I knew this was a special moment, watching this animal in this frozen environment. I felt like a true wildlife photographer. What a moment and what a place! ------------------------------ When we returned to the car I realized in my haste and excitment, I left the car door wide open...camera bag with lenses hanging out the door. Thankfully no one else was around, so I was able to have a good laugh. #emformdesign #coyote
