Rather than switching personalities, I think it's more like they had a complete 180 change in personality :D There isn't anyone who's like Kai in that stage, or uhh well a monkey like Hideyoshi.... or a tanuki belly fan.............

C: A pairing you wish you shipped, but just can't.Nobuyuki/Ina is the one that immediately comes to mind. I was waiting for Nobuyuki since SW1 and had high hopes for him and Ina, so when he was announced for SW4 I was pretty excited about it... then we got a ship that was really goddamn boring and had no chemistry (to my eyes) whatsoever. Nothing about it was enjoyable to me, which was so, so disappointing.
