Along with each of the recipients presents, was a single statice from a bundle she had bought at some point.  Attached was a short and sweet note that read:

Thinking about it made Popuri’s heart hurt. As she nodded she felt tears leave her eyes. She continued nodding as she cried harder. How could he abandon her? How could he leave her? His own daughter! His own daughter!!!

.: ♫ — “I swear, I think you guys just want me to say Zavier all the time. Though, it isn’t entirely wrong. I would trust him with my life, when it comes down to it. It’s what built this relationship after all. Trust.” Sonja replied with a small smile. “All the way back to the day we first started to get to know each other. He trusted me, and I did the same. And I don’t think we’re going to stop any time soon,” she laughed as she looked fondly at the blue feather necklace she now wore.

“But there are two other people that I trust my life with.” A slight pause. “The first one’s Phil. He’s one of my closest friends. While I may not be on a level like him and his friend Kamil, I would still trust him with my life. He’s a good friend with a good heart. I don’t think I wouldn’t be able to not trust him really.”

Lest shifted awkwardly in front of the door of the building. Perhaps most people passing by would have thought that he was carefully debating whether or not he wanted to make a purchase. The man took in a deep breath, and sighed out, trying to build up confidence. He hugged the book he was holding a bit closer to his chest. His arms were crossed over it, each hand on an opposite corner of the book. If someone tried to tear the book away from him just then, it likely wouldn’t have budged even an inch.

He was nervous, no doubt about that. He wasn’t sure what exactly he would be getting out of this whole exchange. Still... that was exactly why he had to give it a try, wasn’t it? He had what he needed... The book in his arms, and a single earring, currently located in a belt pouch.

One item for himself. Another for someone else. 

Steeling his nerves, he entered the building, approaching the first person he saw at the counter.

“I…”

Blond hair, lilac eyes, and a mirthless, thin lipped smile. She’d been so blind. She’d known that she got on his nerves at times, of course. What siblings didn’t? But she’d thought… well. It didn’t matter what she’d thought. It hadn’t been enough, had it? He was gone and even though he wrote he’d never come back. He wouldn’t even give her his number to let her hear his voice, leaving her with nothing but one-sided correspondence at his convenience.

She supposed should be grateful that she even got that much.
