Milo enjoys making Jack contemplate training/sparring with her and her plethora of witty tanks. 

Being away is hard, harder than expected when there is actually a reason for her to be back on base. 

Such is life. No emotions. No need to fear the fact that there was a tug at her core. It was just the way things went. 

You are not alone.    But you are always lonely.

He’s waiting.    But he will leave. They always do.                                                                    Soldier left.  You got played. Just a mission. So convincing.

Eyes shift, focus back through the scope at the target ahead. It was time to clear her mind of everything. Joe was right. There was no reason for emotions. They got in the way now. This was a prime example of it. 

He hasn’t lied to you. They broke him like they broke you. NOT BROKEN! Better! STRONGER!     Together we can kill them all.

A slight shake of her head.

Like you could with Reaper?    He was different.       He deserved to be happy. Not here. He deserves a life and a future. There’s hope, love, passion. He is not alone.

There will be time for this. Some other day. Target acquired. A pull of the trigger, smooth and perfect. Impact. Blood. A body falling to the floor. 

“commander.” her voice is soft, quiet, as athena leans against the open doorway. there is too much going on right now; so much damage, so much pain and suffering. the reveal of the reaper, the return of moira and the rise of deadlock yet again. and then there’s the constant threat of the un discovering them. “how are you holding up?”
