yes! that’s definitely part of it. hux wants to have control over – well, everything. part of that comes out in how impeccably neat he looks at all times. we see him get thrown around a fair bit during tl.j, and yet the next time he’s shown -- even when only a short time has passed -- he’s back to immaculate again. that split lip didn’t heal up in thirty minutes. he had to go find bacta to seal it, had to pull out a comb for his hair, had to re-fasten his uniform and neaten his coat. that’s a fair bit of effort, and points towards him being someone who really wants to get all his ducks in his row. all of them. all.

and the other half of it is that hux v much has a mentality of ‘when you look the part, you are the part’. hence, again, the meticulous attention to appearance. the.... rather comical ...... insistence on wearing that giant greatcoat around just because it makes him look a little bit less like a puff of wind could blow him away.
