send a muse + an ending

EVERYONE LIVES - No one has to die in my muse’s story, be it for better or for worse.

Tate Langdon was a fascination of hers. Someone she looked up to, idolized, and one of the few that was still alive. As Vicky’s anger built and she felt the pressure starting to become unbearable, she sent a letter to the correctional facility that the Westfield High shooter was imprisoned in. She laid out her thoughts and feelings and her plans to emulate him. When she got a letter back, she couldn’t have been more excited, but his response came as a surprise.
In his letter, Tate urged Vicky not to go through with her plan. He told her that he regretted what he did every single day. He explained that he was in a really bad place, that he was high out of his mind, and that it haunted him. He told her that he wished he could go back and not do it, that he wished he could undo all the pain he had caused.
Vicky wrote back. Tate wrote back. And on they went. Vicky put her plans to the back of her head (not completely writing them off, but postponing them at least) and eventually started to view Tate as a friend. He understood her and didn’t judge her for her outlook, however he did encourage her to break some of her bad habits and try to improve her life.
Before she knew it, senior year was ending and she was graduating. She had made it! And she hadn’t hurt anyone. Vicky leaned heavily into her art as an outlet and had gotten good enough to start selling it when she left school. Her father helped pay for her to move out and get her own apartment, as well as begin therapy. She attributes her happiness to Tate and thanks him for stopping her from making a horrible mistake that could have resulted in the loss of who knows how many lives.
