In the Laos capital of Vientiane is a Asian arch called Patuxai. It is the Victory Gate or Gate of Triumph. It is a war monument in the centre of the city built between 1957 and 1968 The Patuxai was dedicated to those who fought in the struggle for independence from France. This I find quite poetic as they built a likeness replica to the Arch de Triumph in Paris. You can climb the Patuxai for around 1$.
