Kuang Si waterfalls in Loas is an amazing attraction near Luang Prabang.

Four years ago today. • Four years ago today I was in Vang Vieng, Laos. It is one of the most amazing, tranquil places I’ve ever been. We spent a whole week there, and it truly was great. • However, due to my anxiety and restlessness I had a hard time relaxing, despite the perfect surroundings. • At the time, it was filled with coffee shops and restaurants playing episodes of friends, and people lounging around drinking shakes and smoking. • I was going stir crazy from just watching others doing nothing. And as much as I wanted just to lounge around, I couldn’t. • I am an active person who needs to keep busy. And mixed with the anxiety, I just couldn’t enjoy the complete calmness of the place. • That being said, I would probably still go back there in a heartbeat. Although, I’ve heard it’s not the same anymore... • • • How about you? Do you enjoy lounging around on holidays? Bolaven Plateau, Laos 2019

라오스는 100여 소수민족이 있는데 라오스 남부의 사람들은 이들을 높은 곳에 사는 사람들이라 불렀다. 이 마을에 왔을때 왜 높은 곳에 사는 사람들인지 이해가 됐다. 나무 위에 집을 짓고 살고 있었다. 전기도 통신도 안되는 이 마을에 왔을때 전기가 안되니 정말 내가 할일이 없는걸 깨달았다. 빈둥빈둥 마을을 돌며 1달러를 주고 망고를 사서 미국놈이랑 나눠 먹는것 빼면 할일이 없어서 마을 사람들을 구경했다. 목에 굴렁쇠를 차고 다니는 카랜족처럼 이 부족의 여자들은 귀에 돌로만든 큰 장산구를 차고 살았는데 죽어서 화장할때까지 여자들은 저 장신구를 차고 산다. 2013년에 처음 방문했고 올해 다시 방문하니 여기도 문명화가 되었다. 개발이 되며 더이상 나무 위에 집을 짓지도 않고 이제 나무줄기로 만든 광주리를 팔지도 않는다. 사는 방식도 바뀌었다. 우리 같은 관광객이 오면 함께 기념촬영을 하고 돈을 받는다. 예전에 그 미국놈이 미니 나이아가라라고 불렀던 폭포도 사라지고 아마 이 모습도 이 세대가 머지막일거란 생각이 들어서 기념촬영을 했다. 할머니의 화장한 모습이 이질감을 느낀다. 옛날 모습은 이제 그냥 사진 기록으로만 남았다. #라오스팍세 #라오스 #라오스여행 #여행스타그램 #laospakse #laostrip #여행에미치다 #여행사진 #travelgram #travelphotography #tripphoto #tripstagram #여행 #pakse https://www.instagram.com/p/B5aSddRlYcs/?igshid=1j5ey8h8etsr7
