Decided to look eastward tonight for my wine choice; I'm pairing the 2017 White No. 47 from @harvestridgewinery in Delaware with some Salmon rolls. This vintage is a blend of 82% Vidal Blanc and 18% Chardonnay. The nose opens with aromas of muskmelon, honeydew, pears, damp hay and musty cave, with a piercing lemon note. (Damp hay and musty cave i know sound unappealing but they actually are in this vintage. Maybe wet sweet grass would be a better descriptor? Anyway.) The White No. 47 is a medium-bodied, medium acid wine. The palate has notes of lemon curd, limestone, pear, apricot, and apple. It is definitely Vidal-prominant, with the Chardonnay creating a body and backbone for the Vidal to play with. It's a good vintage, but I may have left this 17 sit too long in my cellar for a sushi pairing. I'm really amused by the Vivino review that lists this wine as "too easy." Oh no! A wine that's easy to drink and I can enjoy with a simple meal and not have to think about like a quantum physics equation! How DARE YOU MAKE MAKE A WINE THAT'S NOT COMPLEX. 🤪🙄 Anyway, I am liking it, even if it would be better with chicken dishes right now than sushi. #triumphofthehybrids #vidalblanc #vidal #whitewine #wineporn #winereviews #makeamericagrapeagain #delaware #delawarewine #delawarewinery #harvestridgewinery #47 #wine #wineblogger #drink # https://www.instagram.com/p/CIwkMghnyda/?igshid=1nrgyer7ogrru
