how to block v+'s ads
disclaimer. this information is for the tumblr audience only. bc i dont want v+ knowing that i block their ads! thats a great way to convince them to find ad-providers that circumvent ad-blockers
also disclaimer that this blocks ads from showing on your browser, but you do still have to sit through the ad break.
step 1: install ublock origin and open its settings. if you already have ublock origin on your browser, that's fine! we just need to make one change in the settings.
step 2: in ublock origin settings, go to the "My Filters" tab.
step 3: check the box for "Enable my custom filters", then click into the text box below that
step 4: copy your preferred filter below and paste it into the box. if you do not use a VPN while watching v+, i recommend this filter:
*sports.aparentmedia.com*
and if you use a VPN while watching v+, i recommend this filter:
*aparentmedia.com*
the first option will stop your browser from opening and displaying the ad video. the second option will stop your browser from receiving data from v+'s ad supplier completely. the second option is a little more risky due to Website Tracky Reasons that i can explain in the replies if you're curious.
(the risk is that, if v+ notices that your browser isn't communicating with the ad supplier, it's possible they could ban your email address or IP address from accessing the website. i really dont think they monitor it that closely but this is your disclaimer. anyway you can make a new email address and use a VPN for other IP addresses. which is why i recommend the second option if you already use a VPN to watch v+.)
the second option also has the benefit of fuck ad companies and also you'll be able to scrub around on the video still.
this is what your screen will look like when you're done with this step! please note that the asterisks (* symbols) MUST be included in your copypaste
step 5: click "Apply changes", close ublock origin settings, and refresh your v+ tab if it was already open. and you're done!
