Creature- and environmentcores are gaining traction at the moment, and because I am unable to do anything like the crowd (âfunky programmingâ in my brain so to speak) and because there has been some talks in Finnish tumblr about Finnish cores, I propose FENNOCORE, which I have so far split to three subcategories, Maahiscore, Mökkicore and Vetehiscore (maahinen is Finnish nature spirit that may resemble goblins a bit, Vetehinen is water spirit and mökki is sort of holiday house).
FENNOCORE is forest and lakes and things lurking there. Itâs bears and vipers and corvids, it's jumpers, and fields of rye and barley.
MAAHISCORE is moss and stones and things abandoned by (or nicked from) humans, itâs mushrooms and berries, itâs torn and mended clothes, it's holes in the ground and basket made out of roots.
MĂKKICORE is small and old log cabins, itâs scruffy outhouses with old posters on the walls, itâs rugs woven from rags, itâs mosquitoes and citronella smoke, itâs wind chimes and knick-knacks hung from the trees, itâs old shabby clothes and rubber boots, itâs wool socks and sleeping under three blankets in the summer, itâs mix ed and matched cutlery and painted plates, itâs sauna and swims under the midnight sun.
VETEHISCORE is murky water sludgy lake beds, itâs reeds and water lilies and lake weeds, itâs old glass bottles and jewelry stained and corroded by water, itâs fog floating over the water in the morning, itâs green and brown flowy clothes and thin knit sweaters, and northern pikes and perches.
