What do y'all know about Target kids though? In high school we used to do a lot of shopping in kids' sections, but mostly bc we were underfed and also because Village Discount has the absolute best kids t-shirts ever. It's always been my opinion that all the best shit is made for babies, kids, and dogs - and I'm not wrong. Still. This. Kid. . Going to shows alone. Putting on a good scowl but then ending up making best of friends with total strangers. Taking more pictures than I need. Dressing for myself and feeling like a rock of an only child in the rushing river that is the scene, city, world. The fact that DC has brought shows back into my life in such a big way has made me feel transported back to high school - the good parts. Being everywhere without ever really being part of anything. A free agent. I felt so much like myself this night at the Black Cat, felt like a self my teenage self would recognize, would be good with, would scowl at but then make fast friends with.
