Stanley thinking better when he's moving of doing something with his hands so he couldn't do well in classes because you have to SIT STILL in those. For example, he'd be able to think better while working on the Stan'O'War rather than in class because he was moving his hands and stuff.
I imagine he does a thing where he wriggles his fingers when he's thinking, only when it's something more complicated and- yeah I'm bringing up perfect pitch pines- He likes to pick the guitar strings, helps him think... but he hasn't touched a guitar ever since he stopped those live music gigs (didn't pay well)
