COLOSSEUM Valentyne Suite. 1970 UK second issue of the 1969 5-track LP on the large Vertigo 'swirl' label without 'A Philips Record Product' label print, opening with the classic 'The Kettle' and housed in a superb Keef designed gatefold picture sleeve with 'swirl' inner. The sleeve shows only a little soft scuffing top & bottom & is otherwise a lovely, Excellent condition, example. The vinyl appears Excellent to near mint with very few signs of play. MAGNA CARTA Songs From Wasties Orchard. Rare 1971 South African 12-track vinyl LP on the large 'swirl' Vertigo label with a slightly different design to the UK release, produced by Gus Dudgeon & featuring an all-star supporting cast of musicians including Rick Wakeman, Davy Johnstone & Tony Visconti, gatefold 'Apple crate' picture sleeve manufactured in the UK, which opens out to reveal an integral picture card inner to hold the album. The sleeve shows only light shelfwear with a degree of edge scuffing & just a few light indentations, whilst the spine remains readable and there are no tears at the tab. The vinyl shows just light signs of play with no significant scuffs or hairlines and remains excellent. A very nice copy of this hard to find pressing. BEGGARS OPERA Act One. Rare 1970 first UK issue 5-track LP on the large 'swirl' Vertigo label, with 1Y-1/2Y-1 matrices, housed in a matt gatefold picture sleeve with the original '1070' die-cut swirl inner. This debut introduced the band as a major player in the early British symphonic prog scene. Obtained from the private archives of a one-previous owner collection, the Keef designed gatefold sleeve is Excellent, stored away from direct sunlight. The labels have a small amount of foxing with only a couple of spindle marks to show it has been played whilst the vinyl remains very clean with little evidence of play. As good as it gets!
