#version manager

Similar to RVM for Ruby, there's NVM for Node.js. Node Version Manager helps me a lot, at first I started using it because of a simple Node.js runtime installation process, now I'm using all of its benefits.

Running this command will fetch and execute shell script which will install NVM for you:

curl https://raw.githubusercontent.com/creationix/nvm/v0.8.0/install.sh | sh

Install Node.js version you need: nvm install 0.10.29

Install Node.js latest 0.10.x release: nvm install 0.10

List installed versions: nvm ls

List versions available for installation: nvm ls-remote

Activate another installed version: nvm use 0.11

Set a default Node version: nvm alias default 0.10.29

There's also .nvmrc dotfile where you can specify Node.js version for your project and run nvm install to automatically install and use it.

My must-have setup is:

nvm install 0.10

nvm alias default 0.10

nvm install 0.11
