Everywhere God's Word counsels that we trust Him—in good times and bad, even ugly. While the skies are bright and the sun is shining, or when the thunderclouds are forming. But how does trust work? 1) Trust overcomes fear. Genuine trust in God says, "Whatever mess I'm in, my heavenly Father will lead me." 2) Trust overcomes depression. No matter how overwhelming the situation or how low it makes you feel, God can draw you back to the light. 3) Trust overcomes hate. When careless or cruel people hurt you, sometimes irreparably, you can hate forever or you can trust God, but you can't do both. God is there to steady even the worst situation—always with a promise, always with hope. Choose to commit your life to Him for safekeeping. Katherine was in a world of her own that morning, as she often was. It had never taken much for her to find her own entertainment, she had the ability to find fun in any situation and currently, she was occupied by the music that played loudly through her earphones. She paid no attention to her surroundings, the corridors of Mystic Falls high school were cluttered with students and yet, it was as if they were not there. Her feet tapped, her hips swayed and her head nodded to the music in her ears as she rummaged around in her locker, smiling as she finally found what she was looking for. She grabbed the flask and took a sip, welcoming the dull burn of alcohol at the back of her throat. There was no way she was going to survive the first day back at school without a little help from her good friend Bourbon. Katherine was not troubled, far from it, her family life was good, the friends she had were great ones however, she was not one to get on with everyone. Many people bothered her, as did trivial matters such as school. She would much rather be out doing something adventurous  Stability was not suited to her, she much preferred living life on the edge, not knowing what was coming next, living life freely and how ever she wanted to on that particular day. Katherine was still dancing slightly as she closed her locker, heels tapping against the floor, curls bouncing around her shoulders. That was until she danced right into another person, crashing into them and causing her books to fall to the floor. "Damn it! Sorry, I was in a world of my own!" She announced as she hastily pulled out her earphones, glancing up at the victim of her carelessness. However, as her eyes met the males, they widened in surprise. He was an unfamiliar face, but a handsome one at that. Suddenly, her books scattered across the floor were forgotten and her full lips curved into a small but pleased smile. "Hello." Her dark eyes moved over the male in approval, raking over him unashamedly before she met his gaze once more.
