i graduated.
after years of gymnasium, i finally have my matura, and it still doesn't feel entirely real.
the strangest part is knowing that i never have to go back.
for years, i counted down the days without even realizing it. each year seemed to get a little heavier than the last. i was exhausted, overwhelmed, and constantly trying to make it through one more week, one more exam, one more semester. there were moments when i genuinely didn't know how much longer i could do it.
but somehow, i did.
and now it's over.
all those mornings, all those classrooms, all those hours spent feeling trapped there, they're finally behind me. that chapter of my life has ended, and for the first time in a very long time, i can breathe without immediately thinking about what assignment is due next or what test is waiting around the corner.
now i get a summer that actually belongs to me.
i'm turning 20 soon. i'll be spending my birthday in Amsterdam, going on a road trip through Scotland, and hopefully visiting Greece or Vienna. for once, i can enjoy these things without the shadow of school hanging over me, without the fear of eventually having to return.
there's something incredibly comforting about knowing that i survived the worst years of my education and came out the other side.
and now it's time for something new.
after this summer, i'll be starting university. i'll be studying art history and ancient history, two subjects i genuinely love. there will be new challenges, new worries, and probably many sleepless nights ahead, but this time i'm moving toward something i chose for myself.
gymnasium is over.
the next chapter begins now.
