@captainderyn Had commissions open, and I decided to go ahead and get something a little different (aka not FFXIV) since they had been on my mind!!

Thank you @for-lovely-things for tagging me!  I’m not sure if this is supposed to be about 3 OCs or 3 facts about one OC so I’ll do both!

I am a person of few OCs (honestly, I don’t know how you guys keep track of so many OCs, I’m in awe!) but the ones I do have are very treasured and loved.

Kestrel Lavellan (Dragon Age)

He’s my main OC and the focus of allllll my stories on AO3 (@Karasu888).  I didn’t like how Trespasser ended the Pavellan romance and made up my own ending for them (along with other fics along the way).  ANYway, here’s 3 (rambling) facts about Kes:

1. Kes’ parents died on his eighth birthday.  He threw a fit at not getting a bow for his name day and ran off into the woods around his Clan, getting lost.  Fortunately, his Clan found him a few days later, hungry and thirsty but otherwise okay.  All he wanted were to run to his parents and be comforted.  The Keeper had to break the news to him that, in their search for him, they were ambushed by some smugglers and killed.  Kes has never forgiven himself for getting his parents killed and hasn’t complained about the hand life has dealt him since.

2. Before and during the Inquisition, Kes was a skilled archer.  He could pierce the heart of a hart from a great distance.  During his time as Inquisitor, he’d hang back while Cassandra or Bull or Blackwall ran in, dropping enemies from great distances (Cullen was very appreciative of his archery skills, especially since it kept him out of harm’s way).  It also had the added bonus of keeping him back with Dorian ;)  After Solas’ betrayal and he lost his arm, Kes felt wholly incomplete.  If he couldn’t fire a bow, what good was he?  His feelings of inadequacy and lack of self-worth blossomed ten-fold post-Trespasser (Dorian leaving him didn’t help those issues either... D:)

3. Kes’ biggest flaw is his selflessness.  He would die for those he loves which includes any of his companions with the Inquisition.  Sometimes Dorian just wants to shake Kes for throwing himself at anything and everything dangerous just to ensure no one else takes the brunt of the damage, physical or otherwise.

Well, that turned out rather....angsty.  So sorry! ^^;;  I promise the other two will be shorter, I just have so many FEELS about Kes, okay?

Velryn (Original Story)

Velryn is the harpy on the right.  He’s the main character of a new story that’s been stewing on the back burner while I finish up my Pavellan stories.  His story is based in a fantasy world full of magical creatures and beings and very unmagical, jealous humans.  Here are 3 facts about Velryn:

1. Velryn was pushed from his mother’s nest at a very young age because of his gender.  Only female harpies are allowed to live with the rest of the flock and males are killed.  He managed to survive the fall but only because his left wing took the brunt of the damage.  It never healed properly and keeps him from flying.

2. Being passed around between his various “families,” Velryn has little to no self-worth.  However, he keeps those thoughts hidden behind jokes and quick smiles.  He’s very friendly but has no friends and has a weakness for alcohol to numb all those pesky negative thoughts running through his head.

3.  Velryn longs to be loved but he’d never admit it.  Until someone shows him he’s worth something to them, he won’t believe it himself.

Trent (Last Name tbd, lol) (Original Story)

Trent is the guard captain on the left.  He’s the main supporting character of my story.  here are his 3 facts:

1. He’s your “lawful good” type guy.  No one is above the law and he despises anyone who thinks they can get away with a crime (especially smart-ass harpy thieves!).  

2.  Affection is not something he’s overly familiar with.  His family was never big on nurturing and love so it’s a feeling he struggles with how to express.  He’s convinced himself love is unnecessary in this world.  Sex on the other hand...everyone needs the occasional release, he just doesn’t attach any feelings to it.

3. May or may not be a prince from another country who’s fleeing his responsibilities as the rightful heir to the throne.  He doesn’t agree with his father’s politics and enforced racism and sought out a quieter life away from those obligations.  He’s comfortable being Captain of the Guard.
