Minnesota Vikings vs. San Francisco 49ers (-7, 44.5)

Two quarterbacks that are tough to trust, but I’ll go with the favorite.  Minnesota is inexplicably coming off a short week in the playoffs (something that needs to be revised) and the Niners will lean on the smash mouth run game with an extra week of juice in the legs.  Kirk, although riding the high of his career in the Superdome (that was a push off!), was too satisfied with a wild card win, to step up and do it again against a defense getting everyone back at the right time.  I don’t like giving the full touchdown here, but am willing to, as the Niners offense seems more likely to produce the points.  The real test for them comes next week.

Confidence: 7/10  (5/10 is my pick in a coin flip)

Fantasy Value Play:  Deebo!  Both teams are talent-rich, but with Xavier Rhodes expected to take on fellow vet Manny Sanders, Deebo should be featured early and often.  Sanders price tag helps fit in other talent, but the the small jump to Deebo is likely worth it,  Dalvin cook could easily underwhelm compared to Aaron Jones and Damien Williams, despite a huge workload.

Tennessee Titans vs. Baltimore Ravens (-9.5, 47)

Houston Texans vs. Kansas City Chiefs (-9.5, 51)

Two juggernauts against two teams finding a way to win.  The lines are agonizingly placed in just the right spot for debate, but the nice part about having identical lines is you can ask yourself who has the better chance of a a big victory.

That usually comes from winning both sides of the ball.  No one has had much luck stopping either offense, and the Ravens have the elite defense, but I actually think the Titans are more equipped to hang than the Texans.  

An opportune Chiefs D to come up with big plays against a Texans O-line that has been subpar for years.  The Chiefs, despite giving up a lot of points on the season, have defended the WR position very well, so relying on a scrambling Watson or Carlos Hyde is risky proposition.    

I was planning on betting the Chiefs this week regardless of the opponent or the line, as ridiculous as that sounds, but i think they see Tom and Bill at home and believe it is their year.  I do too.  Despite the matchup earlier in the year, Vegas seems to agree that Andy Reid’s defense has vastly improved down the stretch. I don’t like the line, especially with Houston getting an emotional victory last week, but that was the Bills, this is Chiefs, don’t over think it.

Chiefs -9.5  Confidence 8/10

DFS:  Mahomes, D Williams, Tyreke and Travis.  Play them all (50/50 and head-to-head) and tinker with three of the four in your tournament play.  Damien Williams is priced far enough below the stud backs with tougher matchups, and unless Andy Reid has been saving Shady for this moment, I expect D-Will to get enough yards and catches to come close to his value, with the high possibility of a touchdown in a shootout to exceed it.  Cold weather could bring about a few extra carries too.  The other three are no brainers.  It will be cold, but wind will be low and the ball will fly.  Mahomes is about to go off.

Ravens-Titans: A scary proposition

Contrary to the current opinion, I don’t believe mobile quarterbacks win playoff games.  Good defenses can capitalize on the predictablity that comes with it. The Titans are big, physical, and athletically versatile on defense. The initial thought is that Tannehill doesn’t have the playoff experience, but if you count their month-long struggle for the sixth seed, he has more than Lamar.  While I’m tempted to Big Trusss and bet the house on the Ravens, I’ll save that for the tease.  I think Derrick Henry does enough to slow this one down, and the Titans cover.

Titans +9.5

Confidence 6/10

DFS Contrarian Play:  Hollywood Brown - Ravens are run heavy and the Titans have aggressive athletic safeties that can step up and stop the run.  Judge the mesh point wrong, and off he goes...  One big catch is all he needs to match his flex appeal.

Seattle Seahawks vs. Green Bay Packers (-3.5, 47)

This one is tricky.  At first glance, I find it hard to see Russell Wilson losing at all, let alone this week, and he’s getting a field goal.  The Seahawks defense, however, is extremely beatable, and the Packers offensive line is one of the best.  Aaron Rodgers hasn’t pleased fantasy owners, but he did earn a first round bye with the best defense he has ever had.  Three months ago, I would have been all in on the over, but with an estimated kickoff temp of 23 degrees, this might be a war of attrition. Advantage Rodgers.

Confidence 4/10  

DFS:  The Aaron’s and Davante are all as good of  a smash spot as anyone.   If it wasn’t for extreme weather, they would be my stack of the week.  Hawks to consider are Tyler Lockett, my preferred WR option to DK Metcalf because of the dinks and dunks it will take to keep pace with the Pack, and  Beastmode.  If you believe the Hawks stay in this one, they will feed the beast.  The Pack have been gashed by the run at points this season, and imagine trying to tackle that guy in frigid temps. He has potential to be featured in a tough playoff atmosphere.   Lockett is the safer bet because he should produce in any game script.
