I think the concept is dope! I did in fact write a one-shot along similar lines some two years ago (can be found here), though my writing style has changed significantly since then and I'd love to revisit it and flesh it out.

my friend @soggywriter and I also tossed back and forth the idea of signora mentoring diluc a bit...i think that could combine nicely with crimson witch!luc actually. a mentor who understands his situation perfectly and would provide only the best and most well meaning advice, surely :)

i love alienating him from himself and using his fury to achieve that and making that bleed into a physical, destructive manifestation is just perfect for me.

Cub's wings never really go back and he never really gets to go back to his Vex self. His bond with Scar is more of a pseudo bond now with a mix of watcher magic on Cub's end and vex magic on Scar's end. It acts similar to their previous vex bond but Cub never can fully be a Vex again, the watcher magic and features overtook the vex in him and it kills him every day. Cub and Grian are very much so trying to get Cub's wings to look like Vex wings again because Cub very much so misses his Vex wings and Scar also wants the vex wings back so there is more a semblance of normalcy for Convex again and Grian misses his pretty vex that now has feathery wings like his instead of his normal leathery skin like wings made of magic.

Okay to be truthful! I have not finished it yet! I'm near the end though and I will give a full review when I do complete it <3

I'm currently at the Gideon and Harrow pool scene so nobody tell me anything that happens after that ;)
