The thing is I first came across VDare through Steve Sailer in the comments in Matt Yglesias' blog two decades ago (with maybe some scene-setting from the paleoconservatives at antiwar.org, as found through daily free-market.net links in the 90s?) and for the '00s it was all blog-era internet shit, so whenever I see it invoked in relation to actual politics it's always kinda surreal
"VDare knows some of the truth. Like Steve Sailer, knows a very narrow part of the truth in extremely deep detail, but is largely blind to the bigger picture, which is why it frequently finds itself in the crosshairs. I have supported VDare in the past, mostly donât consider them part of the grifter/shill coalition, even met Peter in person, and he is as nice a guy as anyone would expect, and totally undeserving of the labels and lawsuits. But then, that is kind of the point, isnât it? Charlie Kirk was the same, and he took a bullet for it. We are rapidly entering, or should I say, have entered the phase where words donât matter anymore, and nice guys finish last. Iâm sorry about the lawfare, really I am, but itâs not like this is new; they have been defending against defamation and lawsuits for years and years, and America no longer has much need of soft-spoken political advocates, because everyone who is capable of being persuaded has already chosen their side, and in a sense, Disney and Discord did more to make the battle lines visible than Steve and Peter ever could. But the point is, the time for paying lawyers and appealing to judges is over, and the time for killing lawyers and exiling judges has begun; I donât know if âour guysâ in government have already started, but if they fail to do it, then our enemies will certainly do it to us once they seize power. This is the time for warriors, for men with guns, not keyboards, and yes, the irony of the situation is not lost on me, but there it is. And to reiterate what was probably a disposable post made by our friend Humungus, warriors like to be paid in either coin or pussy, with the ones paid in pussy being considerably more motivated and effective. Nothing else will suffice; âtruthâ is not an acceptable form of payment for those who can fight. These advocacy organizations peaked around 2015-2019 when awareness was just starting to dawn, but sadly, arenât that relevant anymore."

New RNC official Ed Martin is âbig admirerâ of VDare, a white nationalist group that attacks Black, Hispanic, Jewish, and Muslim people
Right-wing pundit Ed Martin hosted VDare leader Peter Brimelow on his show to oppose speaking Spanish in the U.S.
Right-wing commentator Ed Martin, who was recently appointed to a senior position for the Republican National Convention, has complained about Spanish speakers in the United States and said he is a âbig admirerâ of leading white nationalist group VDare.
VDare has posted content claiming that âone problem with these Hispanic immigrants is their disgusting behaviorâ; âAmerica does not need ANY immigrants from Africaâ; the United States needs to ârethink Martin Luther King Dayâ; âMiscegenation has risksâ; antifa and Black Lives Matter protests in 2020 might be part of a âJewish coupâ; and the country should âEXPEL Muslims.â
Martin is a podcaster, author, and frequent guest on right-wing media programs. He briefly worked as a pro-Trump pundit on CNN from 2017 to 2018 but was fired after he repeatedly embarrassed the network, including attacking his colleagues as âBlack racists.â Martin, who was on a 2020 Trump campaign advisory board, was also a notable figure after the 2020 presidential election when he helped organize âStop the Stealâ rallies and later defended accused participants in the January 6 Capitol insurrection. He has also pushed the QAnon conspiracy theory, repeatedly using the movementâs slogan âWWG1WGA,â short for âWhere we go one, we go all.â
The RNC announced Martinâs appointment as deputy policy director of the Republican National Conventionâs Committee on the Platform on May 15, with RNC Chairman Michael Whatley praising Martin and other selections as âbrilliantâ and having âsound judgement and principled vision.â Martin joins Russ Vought, a key Project 2025 figure who has pushed for Christian nationalism and âideological purity testsâ for civil servants, on the committee.
Martin is a fan of VDare, a white nationalist organization that repeatedly attacks Black and Latino people. VDare has also featured antisemitic and anti-Muslim rhetoric and criticized âmiscegenation,â writing that âflawed character is disproportionately associated with mixed black-white race people.â (In 2016, the Republican National Convention featured a social media post from VDare on its scrolling ticker.)

Sailer On Jeremy Carlâs âThe Unprotected Classâ
From my new column in Takiâs Magazine about Jere...

The âGreat Replacement Theoryâ (GRT) has taken the media by storm! It seems that the white racist who shot up a grocery store full of black people last weekend cited GRT in his 180-page âmanifesto.âFirst of all, journalists need to understand that
GRT is only a theory taught in advanced law school seminars.
It is not something designed for indoctrination of mass audiences of young people. So what is GRT? The New York Times describes it thus:
â[T]he notion that Western elites, sometimes manipulated by Jews, want to âreplaceâ and disempower white Americans.â
(You want a conspiracy theory about a secretive cabal of Jews? Check out the Timesâ series of articles on âneoconservativesâ back in the early 2000s.)
But thenâjust as every argument about abortion suddenly becomes an argument about contraceptionâa few paragraphs later, the crackpot theory jumps from a Jewish cabal replacing whites with blacksâŚto the idea that Democrats are using immigration âfor electoral gains.â
Wow, that is nuts! Whereâd anybody get that idea?
Oh yeahâfrom liberals.
Hereâs Democratic consultant Patrick Reddy in 1998:
âThe 1965 Immigration Reform Act promoted by President Kennedy, drafted by Attorney General Robert Kennedy, and pushed through the Senate by Ted Kennedy has resulted in a wave of immigration from the Third World that should shift the nation in a more liberal direction within a generation. It will go down as the Kennedy familyâs greatest gift to the Democratic Party.â
(Well, sure, if you want to totally overlook skirt-chasing and pill-popping.)
Then in 2002, Democrats Ruy Teixeira and John Judis wrote The Emerging Democratic Majority,  arguing that demographic changes, mostly by immigration, were putting Democrats on a glide path to an insuperable majority. After Obamaâs reelection in 2012, Teixeira crowed in The Atlantic (which was then a magazine that people read, as opposed to a billionaire widowâs charity) that âten years farther down this road,â Obama lost the white vote outright, but won the election with the minority voteâAfrican-Americans (93-6), Hispanics (71-27) and Asian-Americans (73-26).
A year later, the National Journalâs Ron Brownstein began touting the âCoalition of the Ascendant,â gloating that Democrats didnât need blue-collar whites anymore. Woo hoo! Obama âlost more than three-fifths of noncollege whites and whites older than 45.â But who cares? He crushed with âminorities (a combined 80%).â
âAdios, Reagan Democrats,â he says gleefully.
Democratic pollster Stanley Greenbergâs 2019 book, RIP GOP,  explains the coming death of the Republican Party as a result ofâŚsucking up to Wall Street? Pushing pointless wars? Endlessly cutting taxes? NO! The GOPâs demise would come from the fact that âour country is hurtling toward a New America that is ever more racially and culturally diverseâŚmore immigrant and foreign born.â
And these were the genteel, nonthreatening descriptions of how immigration was consigning white voters to the Aztec graveyard of history.
On MSNBC, theyâre constantly sneering about âold white menâ and celebrating the âbrowning of America.â A group called Battleground Texas boasts about flipping that deep red state to the Democratsâsimply by getting more Hispanics to vote. Blogs are giddily titled, âThe Irrelevant Southâ (âthe traditional white Southâsocially and economically conservativeâis no longer relevant in national politicsâ). MSNBCâs Joy Ann Reid tweets that she is âgiddyâ watching âall the bitter old white guysâ as Ketanji Brown Jackson âmakes history.â
This week, the mediaâs leading expert on the crazies who believe in replacement theory is Tim Wise, popping up on both MSNBC and CNN to psychoanalyze the white âracists.â Heâs been quoted, cited or praised dozens of times in the New York Times. This isnât some fringe character, despite appearances.
In 2010, Wise wrote an âOpen Letter to the White Rightâ that began:
âFor all yâall rich folks, enjoy that champagne, or whatever fancy ass Scotch you drink. âAnd for yâall a bit lower on the economic scale, enjoy your Pabst Blue Ribbon, or whatever shitty ass beer you favor ⌠âBecause your time is limited. âReal damned limited.â
Guess why! Wise explained:
âIt is math.â
Wait, isnât math racist? But moving onâŚ
âBecause youâre on the endangered list. âAnd unlike, say, the bald eagle or some exotic species of muskrat, you are not worth saving. âIn 40 years or so, maybe fewer, there wonât be any more white people around who actually remember that Leave It to Beaver âŚâ
Have you ever noticed how obsessed liberals are with Leave It to Beaver?
âItâs OK. Because in about 40 years, half the country will be black or brown. And there is nothing you can do about it. âNothing, Senor Tancredo.â
After several more paragraphs of mocking white people, Wise ended with this stirring conclusion:
âWe just have to be patient. âAnd wait for you to pass into that good night, first politically, and then, well ⌠âDo you hear it? âThe sound of your empire dying? Your nation, as you knew it, ending, permanently? âBecause I do, and the sound of its demise is beautiful.â
To Wise, the best way to kill the anti-Semitic trope of Jewish elites waging war against whites is to be a Jewish elite waging war against whites.
I donât know about the Jewish cabal version of GRT, but as for liberals using immigration to bring in more Democratic voters, as Maya Angelou said, âWhen people show you who they are, believe them.â
NY Times fires back at defamation plaintiff with anti-SLAPP lawsuit
The New York Times sued an anti-immigration author for the cost of defending itself against defamation in what appears to be one of the first cases brought under a recently expanded âanti-SLAPPâ law to protect critical speech. The company is seeking unspecified fees spent fending off a 2020 lawsuit by Peter Brimelow, according to the companyâs lawsuit, which was filed on Tuesday. Brimelow hadâŚ
