this is a Samtory piece I started wayback tailend of 2022, just a few weeks after the S5 drop. it's meant to be the aftermath of Tory's involvement with Silver's Cobra Kai, pre-Sekai Taikai, and at this point Sam has been actively trying to trickle down some Miyagi-Do lore on Tory by actually introducing the OG (dead) sensei himself. Tory on the other hand leans into the spark between her and Sam throughout the night, especially now that they're not fighting (though not exactly friends friends yet, either).
Tory wants her to know that the first time she had ever truly felt love wasn’t from karate, nor being pulled out of what seemed to be perpetual damnation, but from the cemetery. And if she were to clarify: yes, the cemetery, which was (not-so) oddly the place where Tory only ever felt alive alive.
So she waits. It is exactly ten in the evening, and she’s hugging herself, wearing a sweater lined with some specific type of fleece material. She suddenly remembers that it’s terry, but then she swats the thought away before it could metastasize. This particular night weather feels simultaneously comforting and her, in part of the rendezvous and what’s going to happen once they hit the park. It will be the second time she’ll ride in LaRusso’s car; she doesn’t know why this makes her heart race. The least she can remember is that the seats were cushioned, and sitting in it felt too premium enough that her ass could never afford to sit in it again.
Until now, of course. Maybe that’s why she’s jittery.
at some point, I thought about picking this story up as my contribution to the Zombie prompt in CK Halloween '24, but alas, time could never. I also sought this out to be a multi-page comic, and honestly the idea is still festering within me! I'll see if I can build upon the bricks so that a base is formed, but an ending is there, and if it ends up being a multi-parter as I always somehow end up unconsciously doing, then it's there!
🌿how does creating make you feel?
my relationship with Creation in all forms wasn't the smoothest peaks and valleys -- more like a jagged, asymmetric set of teeth -- and it was only until my mid-20s did I sorta piece together that I was tons egotistical about the work I've done (in yearning for Metrics) without doing the damn work. thinking that way unfortunately left me out of many opportunities within the communities I was in, and sometime this year i thought i'd make slight changes to it. things did change for the better too with the milestones i've passed, it's now more of just doing the hard work consistently and making time for things I guess.
