Variants: People who have faced a life-altering trauma that gives them powers (see: variation)
Civvie: A regular person without a variation
Variation: An evolutionary advantage given to people who have faced a life-threatening trauma, which manifests based on the trauma (drowning gets water-based powers, fire gets fire-based powers, etc.)
Woodcreek: A small boarding school located in Christian County, Missouri. Built in 1965 and run by Ida Bardot until 2002, it is the second oldest school in the state with a student body mostly comprised of students who have been abandoned by their parents.
Gateway Prep: The oldest boarding school in Missouri. Built in 1901 and begun by Elmer Fargo, it has a large student body that is 50% rich kids and 50% city students.
Legion: A team of superheroes that aided the local and federal government in stopping crimes and restoring justice to the public. Run by Ricardo Gomez from 2015 to 2018. He was replaced by Roy Cassidy and Elias Clemons
Honor Watch: A team of powerful Variants, led by Mancer, that killed less powerful Variants and took control of the ones who managed to fight back.
Variant Extermination Squad: Also called Variant Education Squad, V.E.S. is a group of militant civvie extremists that publicly call for the shutdown of Variant boarding schools because of the fear that they’ll get a head start in society. They’re called Variant Extermination Squad because they have been linked in the past to early mobs that attacked and killed Variants.
Forsyth: A small town in Christian County that is notorious for its bare minimum protections for Variants. It also houses the largest V.E.S. facility in Missouri.
