hey guys!!! I'm thrilled that there's enough interest to do this! while this is all still in the very early planning stages, I wanted to share the details I have figured out so far. most importantly, I want this to be a collaborate effort with all taivan shippers, so I'm going to be asking for suggestions and running polls at different stages (more details below).

what is it???

taivan week is a fanweek dedicated to taivan (van & taissa from yellowjackets). it's a collaborative fandom effort to celebrate the canon lesbian ship we all love through the creation fanworks (fanart, fics, edits, etc.) with a different theme for each day (details for suggesting themes and voting are in the "daily themes" section below).

when is it???

the first ever taivan week will be held in early november to coincide with when taivan came out at doomcoming, and to give everyone enough time to create fanworks.

the potential weeks are:

monday, november 6th - sunday, november 12th

monday, november 13th - sunday, november 19th

the week will be decided by polls on twitter and tumblr that will go live on tuesday, august 8th at 10AM EST and close on tuesday, august 15th.

the official date announcement will be made on wednesday, august 16th at 6PM EST

daily themes

each day of taivan week will have a different theme to inspire fanwork posted that day (ie. no crash au monday). themes will be suggested via an anonymous suggestion form and voted on by everyone via polls.

details

the link to the theme suggestion form will be shared on here and twitter on friday, august 11th at 7PM EST and will close on friday, august 18th at midnight EST.

all of the theme suggestions to be voted on will be announced on here and twitter at saturday, august 19th at noon EST.

on sunday, august 20th at noon EST a link to a poll will be shared on here and twitter for everyone to rank their top four favorite theme suggestions. the poll will close on saturday, august 26th at noon EST.

the top 10 themes based on that poll will be announced on here and twitter on sunday, august 27th at 8PM EST.

on monday, august 28th at 9AM EST polls will open on tumblr to decide the theme for each day of the week from those top 10. the polls will close on monday, september 4th.

on wednesday, september 6th at 7PM EST the themes for each day of taivan week will be announced on here and twitter!

hashtags

specific hashtags to use for taivan week as well as each themed day will be shared on here and twitter in october. using these hashtags when sharing taivan week fanworks on twitter, tumblr, and/or ao3 will help everyone to be able to find them. I'll also reblog fanworks from the hashtags on here and retweet them on the taivan week twitter account.

I personally think we're about to witness their first breakup tonight. I think Taissa was sleepwalking during the hunt, and they'll breakup because she thinks Van went to far (though Van was really only trying to keep them alive). it's so hard because Van truly did what she did out of a need to protect Tai, but I think Tai will push her away because that level of devotion scares her (but deep down Tai knows she would do the same for Van).

prepare yourselves... I think we’re going to see taivan’s first breakup (I do think they’ll get back together before their final breakup) in the season finale. the promotional stills of Van and Taissa definitely look like a fight, and liv alluded to a finale breakup in their interview last week. 

I think that Taissa was sleepwalking for part of the hunt, and though Van carried out the hunt to keep Tai (and the rest of them) alive, I don’t think Tai will be okay with it. I don’t think Van realized Tai was sleepwalking, so she’ll be blindsided when Tai doesn’t remember it. it’s going to parallel S2E3 when Tai finds out about the cannibalism, but this time, it’s going to lead to a breakup. 

I think Van is going to view the situation as doing everything she can to protect Tai and keep her alive, and I think that’s going to scare Tai. which in turn, will devastate Van. from Van’s perspective, she pushed down her own feelings and lost part of herself to protect Tai, and now she’s also about to lose Tai because of protecting her. I also think this is where Tai begins to believe that “it was never any good for anyone.” the idea of Van loving her so much she’s willing to kill for her is going to make her realize deep down she would do the same for Van, and Tai is going to be terrified of that realization and push her away. 

I personally believe the breakup because of Van being willing to do anything to protect Tai, even if it means killing for her, will set up a parallel moment in the 2021 timeline. I think someone is going to try to kill Van during the hunt and I think Tai (or more likely Other Tai) is going to kill to protect Van. I think Tai is going to see this as reinforcing “it was never any good for anyone,” and push Van away again by going back to Simone.
