Yesterday at a major car accident the helicopter doctors praised me because as first on scene, the decisions and interventions I made increased the patients chance of survival hugely, as well as keeping them stable for 20 miles and on scene until they could be removed from the car via the fire brigade and until we could meet the helicopter halfway to the hospital. Yesterday I did something that changed someone's life. Yesterday I made myself proud. And today was just a normal day, and I see people going to their 9-5 jobs and think, maybe I wake up at 4am and I work 12+ hour shifts and I stay up all night and I put myself at risk every time I drive on blue lights and maybe some days I get spat at, hit at, shouted at, and disrespected but some days I make a real difference, and I love my job.
