For @vanderweek Day 5: Childhood (Iâm doing these days randomly I knowđ)Â
I agree with @jove-bluh s take on his past but perhaps mineâs a little more angsty. I think as a child he wouldâve relied heavily on films & comic books for escapism, which as a result inspires him to get stronger and become more self-reliant so no one can push him around he didnât bank on Seven tho ha!
Vanderweek Day 4: Loyalties

Vanderweek 2018 day 6 : Partner Letâs imagine Vandy found a way to escape but not 707
Vanderwood x Reader: good morning~
Here is a soft drabble I wrote a while ago and decided to share now because~ itâs~ @vanderweek! Have fun reading this lil thing lol
Living undercover was obviously something difficult to afford. The fear of being caught, constant carefulness and rigor while doing simple, daily tasks was somewhat devastating at some point. Domestic features were deprived of its domestic pleasure, and going out to do the grocery seemed like the biggest danger one could be put in.
Constant pressure had two sides: the one which could make one break, and the other⊠filled with pleasant adrenaline that sometimes â even though very rarely â could bring desired feeling of thrill, excitation.
But long months after the worst danger was already gone, Vanderwood found out that thereâs nothing more thrilling â and stressing as well â than trying to conceal a relationship.
It looked like an accident, a result of various factors that made him still live with Chois. He could always go away and find his own path, and yet â he stayed with them, as if nothing ever changed.
He found a simple job and therefore one could say that there was nothing keeping him here.
But there actually was a thing. Or a person, to be specific. They were tied to each other, and yet the bond was completely transparent.
And he couldnât help but wonder, how long will it stay like this.
His arm was wrapped loosely around the sleeping girl. Her breath tickled his bare chest and one of her legs was on his. She shivered slightly from the cold temperature in the room and he tugged the quilt over her naked back, bringing her a bit closer.
Grey smoke of his cigarette filled the room, leaving the harsh smell all around them.
The window was slightly open, only to make the fresh air get inside. It was so calm. The sun right above the horizon fell onto their frames, encouraging them to finally get up. But he didnât want to stop this moment and the girl didnât look like she was about to wake up any time soon either.
He was relaxed and he prayed so that itâd last forever. The feeling of safety, of not having to hurry, to work under pressure nor to be casually ordered to kill people, was the most relieving out of it all.
He didnât know if heâd really be able to enjoy it if he was there all alone.
The former agent put out the cigarette in the ashtray laying on the nightstand.
She kept telling him to get rid of this habit. He was aware that the feeling of ease he could experience was the result of addiction, but it still did make him calm. The smell was somewhat nice.
Yet, itâd always bring so many memories. Because he always smoke when he was nervous. When he had a reason to be worried.
Right now, he had none.
It was alright.
It was⊠alright.
The main door suddenly creaked.
It was not alright.
He got up in an instant, miraculously â but probably not too fortunately â not waking up his lover. She was still deep in her sleep, even when he started to toss around all the things, attempting to find his underwearâŠ
âVanderwood, MC, are you two there?â Saeyoungâs voice echoed in the hall.
Vanderwood held his breath. He managed to put on some sweatpants, but the shirt was also gone.
He went out of the room, quietly closing the door.
âWhat are you doing here so earlyâŠ?â he asked, feeling a bit like a kid whose parents promised to leave for a few hours and returned after barely few minutes.
âThe weather suckedâ he admitted. âAt night it was difficult to even sleep in the tent so we decided to come back. It was late so we didnât want to wake you two with calling, but-â He suddenly stopped, his eyes stopping on the thing laying beside the couch. ââŠIs this your underwear?â
So here it was.
âAhh, nasty!â Saeyoung whined. âDid you make MC look at this something?! I left for two days and youâre already-â
âShut up, Saeyoung.â
âWhatâs for the breakfast?â a sleepy voice made them both turn around. MC, wrapped in the quilt but with her arms bare making it obvious she had nothing underneath, was standing in the doorframe, still not conscious enough to realize that Saeyoung was here as well.
âM-MCâŠ?â Saeyoungâs face in a few seconds got as red as his hair and Vanderwood rubbed his temples, realizing how bad the situation was. âW-why are youâŠ?â
âI didnât know where my clothes areâŠâ she admitted, but still seemed to be unable to get all the info together. Saeyoungâs presence didnât bother her. Yet.
âO-ohâŠâ The redhead coughed awkwardly and turned towards the main door. âI-I will take Saeran to some i-ice cream or something, y-you two take your timeâŠâ he mumbled and left before Vanderwood could say a word.
Vanderwood took a deep breath in and then let it out, as if all his problems would magically disappear with this one, simple gesture.
They didnât.
âHoney, what for the breakfast?â she wrapped arms around him, letting the quilt slip onto the floor.
Vanderwood sighed deeply.
âEndless embarrassment and eggs, I guess.â

Belated Vanderwood week Day7
By the time MC had woken up Vanderwood had finished cleaning up everywhere else besides the bedroom.  Seeing her awake, Vanderwood got up stiffly, and gave her a smile.  âAlright.  You go ahead and get ready for the day and Iâll get breakfast going.â Â
âIâll help.â Â MC said, walking towards the kitchen as well, brushing against Vanderwood as she stepped in first. Â âWhat were you thinking of making?â Â
Vanderwood had paused when she had bumped into him, a slight scowl to his expression as he reminded himself of what his plan was. Â âItâs going to be just a light meal. Â Weâre going to be busy today. Â We didnât get a chance to get you more clothes, so we need to go swing by your place later, but in the meantime. Â Iâm going to have you help me move some furniture to clear a space. Â Have you ever taken a self defense class before?â
If she had any experience before he could build off of that. Â Make her more comfortable, or even just jog her memory of it. Â The thought of someone grabbing her again like they did last night, and her not being able to do something about it had Vanderwoodâs stomach tightening in knots. Â She shook her head, giving him a bit of a wide eyed stare. Â
âI have not.â
âOkay, then after weâve cleaned up from breakfast weâll go over some basics.â
âLike⊠S.I.N.G?â  MC gave him a teasing smile. Shaking off the previous surprised look. Â
ââSingâ?â Â Vanderwood got out the pan he was going to use for breakfast. Â Then he tried shooing MC away from the fridge so he could get to cooking himself, only to ind her determined to help him. Â He took a moment to ask for her to grab the ingredients before she continued explaining.
âItâs from an American movie, it stands for âSolar plexâ, âIn-stepâ, âNoseâ, and âGroinâ.â Â MC set the ingredients on the counter and asked for instruction on what he wanted to prepare. Â It was fairly simple, he didnât really need her help, but seeing her refusal to sit by. Â He started her on making a soup. Â He tried to remember if heâd seen the movie she was referring to, either way itâs not a bad place to start, though he wished she had more experience than that. Â
âThat could work, have you ever practiced it before? Â Or used it before?â Â
âWell-â
Vanderwood sighed, and let MC trial off there, he turned his focus completely to finishing up their food. Â In no time MC and him had finished cooking, eating, and cleaning up together. Â Their conversation hadnât really picked up again. Â Though occasionally he found her looking at him out of the corner of his eye, but she would turn away very quickly if he tried to catch her at it. Â
She was probably nervous, and he didnât blame her. Â But it was all necessary. Â
They cleared a space and MC stood there waiting for him. Â âOkay, howâre we going to start?â Â
âIâm going to grab you from behind and I want you to elbow me hard. Â Okay? Â Aim for that solar plex you were talking about.â
He wrapped an arm around her and for a moment she seemed to lean back into him, surprising him. Â He was starting to relax when she threw her elbow back. Â She missed her target and got him more in the side. Â Thankfully. Â Scolding himself for getting distracted again, he leaned forward to speak more clearly in her ear. Â âYou should twist slightly to expose the diaphragm and make it more accessible.â Â He grabbed her hips and twisted her slightly. Â âItâll be like this. Â Alright letâs try again.â
She did it perfectly the next time, as Vanderwood gasped.  MC spun around and took to immediately making sure he was alright.  Her concern was touching, but he was smiling.  âGood.  After that when you stop on their foots, aim more for the top of their feet.  Shoes can be misleading for where the toes are.  But this might be a good place to start with for now on that.  Now I do want to see you throw a punch, and after Iâm satisfied with your form weâll go to your place to get you a few things or⊠we could just go to the store to get you some new clothes in general.â
âI think my place would make sense, itâs fine.â
Vanderwood nodded, signalling her to try to best punch, which was flimsy at best. Â But his mind now wondered what was the likelihood that the enemy knew where she lived and if they would be waiting for them. Â He corrected her stance and explained hitting past the target to get more force into it, and making sure not to lock her elbows as he considered telling her his concern.
No. Â She had enough on her plate. Â He could protect her, and if she learned how to throw a decent enough punch, she would be able to help.
And now Iâm done with all of my belated appreciation week pieces! And this is the last of the ones for @vanderweek ! I donât know if Iâll continue this story, but it was fun!
