Ya'll I'm in love with the new patterns you can put on Vandagryes. They're not as accurate to their real life counterparts; but they do give the general first look impression of the irl counterparts.
I'm not quite sure what the Tropical Vandagrye fit is meant to be. There is a species of owl called the Tropical Screech Owl but...
It's nowhere NEAR as ornate as the Vandagrye version; we'll chalk it up to artistic liberty.

SO I WAS PULLING UP REFS FOR STUFF AND UH-
THIS IS HOW YOU DO A COLOR TNT. Look at THAT. The Crown, the easy on the eyes coloration, The whole goddess Isis reference, THIS IS HOW YOU DO IT. I don’t know who was in charge during the mutant color and design-but this is a bounce back from the last color. WOWIEE
This actually makes me want a Vandagrye, I LIKE THIS. the blue goes well with the yellows of the body and the headdress accommodates the little ears, I love it???
Neomonth Day 2: Pet/Color Redesign
I know for a fact that everyone redesigned the Mutant Vandagrye when it came out because that thing was even hard for ME to look at. And TBH, all those redesigns are fan-TABULOUS and I didn’t feel like I could really TOP something like that. So Here’s my tweeks and modifications.
Vandagryes are kinda hard for me to love because I guess of their faces. They’re not very BIRD like in structure (and to be honest I hate drawing bird like faces) If they had a thicker neck and a more defined face like a bird I could probably love them a little more. I most changed up the palette tone to be more mute in saturation and added stripes to the tentacle tail since stripes is a fairly consistent pattern that shows up in mutant colors. I honestly like the little side braids they have because that’s pretty cute. (and if the eye braids could have a little bead that looks like an eye that’d be pretty poppin’.)
Now I’m a firm believer that your first thought about something is how society conditioned you to think about said something and the second one is your true opinion and how you REALLY feel.
My First take on the Mutant Vandagrye is that piss fuck ugly and that’s saying something from a person who is a mutant fanatic. Like my god. Compartive to all the other designs and the other recent designs-this thing looks like someone phoned it fucking in.
My second take is that the first one stands true. That is something I tragically cannot change and that everyone else’s redesigns are superior and I think if TNT is looking for designers, they should hire (and pay) these fantastic people to design stuff for them, cause jfc, I have been awake for less than 30 minutes and this is one HELL of a way to wake up.
