In Part 1 I laid out the basics of the "Poor Man's Pappy".

In Part 2 I experiment to find my own personal blend. I decided to keep things simple by only using Weller Antique 107 and Weller 12.

To start I purchased three 500 mL flasks from The Container Store per the recommendation of JTR at Axis of Whisky to store the final blend. In order to have accurate measurements of how much whiskey I was blending I went with a two pronged approach using both weight and volume to measure how much whiskey was in my blend. I purchased a 500mL plastic graduated cylinder (plastic just because I knew I would eventually break it on accident) and a digital food scale.

I then created some semi-custom labels as I wanted to be able to identify each batch separately and put all pertinent information onto each bottle so I could keep detailed records and not confuse the bottles. I gave my label space to write in the batch number, ABV %, proof, and blend ratio.

For further records keeping I created a google spreadsheet so I could track all the batches I end up creating. I made the spreadsheet public so that you can view it here and view the latest results.

Once I had all the components I started blending. I thought measuring by both weight and volume I would have more accurate results since I would have two data values for each measurement and could compare them with other measurements to see how accurate my volume measurements truly are (If you are into science like me, then you can also calculate the different densities of the two Wellers for fun).

After all of the blending and bottling and labeling was complete I entered all of the data into the excel file and let my premade formulas go to work calculating the ABVs by both weight and volume.
