i just want a vampire girlfriend
I get so unreasonably content/warm-hearted whenever a bat passes in front of my window. Like, they're the littlest guys, just minding their business, good for them!
Need a warm glass of blood to send me straight to seep
Lana And Eugene

Warnings: none
Request: no
Character: Chan, Noah, Sky
Word Count: 1.6k
"Oh, you're fucking kidding … " Noah groans as he quickly scoops up the nail polish brush that he dropped on his bed; it's left behind an undignified splodge of black, and the nineteen year old scowls, trying to rub at it.
It just makes the stain worse. Noah sighs before reaching into the top drawer of his desk, scrabbling around for an identical bottle. He finds his white nail polish and decides to paint two tiny dots on top of the black splodge, his face contorting into an amused grin when his mess takes on a goofy face.
"Noey, mama said dinner is ready soon," Sky calls from outside his door as she knocks. She pops her head around the door and squints at her brother who is looking at his bedding with comical interest. "What are you doing?"
Noah grins. He beckons her to come inside and Sky shuts the door behind her, wrinkling her nose as it adjusts to the scent in her brother's room.
"It smells like perfume and nail polish," Sky comments. "Shouldn't it smell like stinky socks and boy germs?"
Noah chuckles. "Just because I'm a boy it doesn't mean my room has to smell. I like nice smelling things."
"But it smells different to last time," Sky says. "Last time it smelled like flowers."
"Yeah, because last time I had flowers on my windowsill," Noah nods towards his windowsill where a pot of dried flowers sits. "Well. Fresh flowers."
Sky raises an eyebrow. "What's this new smell?"
"My reed diffuser," Noah points towards something matte black and ceramic. "Matty got me it."
Sky picks the diffuser up with curiosity, examining the bottom of it. "Cedarwood and patchouli? Matty got you this? As in … Matty who only wears TNs?"
"Yes, that Matty," Noah rolls his eyes as he begins to paint his nails again. He rests his right hand against his knees, his curls falling onto his eyes as he covers his nails in black. "He makes diffuser scents in his spare time."
Sky suddenly giggles and the fourteen year old flops down on the bed next to her brother, making him jump. "Really? He makes things?"
"Yeah," Noah smiles, playfully kicking Sky as she wraps her arms around his legs, peering at his nails.
"You're wearing nail polish again," Sky observes. "And you're listening to Lana. Are you sure you don't have a girlfriend?"
Chuckling, Noah blows at his nails as he screws his bottle shut. He sets it down on his counter before leaning back against the wall, the window opposite casting a golden glow on his face and turning his eyes into honey. "I don't have time for a girlfriend, Ky-Ky. I tell you this every week."
"Yeah but I don't believe you," Sky leans closer to him, so close that she could count the freckles across his fair skin if she wanted to. "What's her name?"
"Ky," Noah groans in mild exasperation before picking up his nail polish. "Her name is 'quick dry nail varnish in Cosmic Black'."
Sky giggles and begins to shake him energetically, her hands clutching at his shirt. "Noeeeeyyyyyyy."
"Kyyyyyyyyyy," Noah huffs back, his head bobbing side to side with how aggressive his sister is being. He then suddenly reaches out and traps her with his own arms, placing her in a gentle headlock that has her squealing with laughter as he jokes, "you're so annoying. Like actually so annoying."
"I know," Sky laughs maniacally and slides out of his grip. She settles herself near the foot of his bed and reaches for his ukulele, absentmindedly tugging at the strings in a tuneless fashion. "It's fun being annoying."
Noah shakes his head as he smiles. He wiggles his fingers in front of him, his slender fingers cascading shadows over the wall beside him. "Do these look okay?"
Sky nods. "Yeah. Same as always. You're way better at nails than me."
"Nah that's not true," Noah reaches out and lightly flicks his fingers against her forehead. "You're so good at doing those intricate frogs."
"Frogs are easy," Sky shrugs. "Fat dot, two smaller dots, and then more dots."
Then she scrambles off of his bed and sets his ukulele down again before running out of his room. She then pops her head into his room again, pointing her finger at him. "Don't put the top coat on yet."
Noah watches curiously as she disappears. He can't help but smile … he'll never understand why guys his age treat their sisters like crap. He loves his sister more than anything.
She comes back with a small box and she dumps it on his bed. Slipping the green scrunchie off of her skinny wrist, she messily ties her long hair back in a knot atop her head before sinking down onto his bed again.
As she moves the box, her gaze lands on the nail polish stain from earlier. She learns closer, narrowing her eyes.
"What's this?" Sky laughs. "It looks like a spider."
"Yeah … I dropped nail polish," Noah grins, running his fingers over it. "I put a face on it so it doesn't look weird."
"You're weird," Sky retorts as she pulls out some bottles of her own nail polish. "I'm calling him Eugene."
"Eugene?" Noah repeats in amusement. "Really? Why Eugene?"
Sky shrugs. "I don't know, he looks like a Eugene. A Eugene who likes Lana too."
"What a classy spider," Noah laughs, his eyes crinkling up like his father's. "Does he play an instrument?"
"Electric guitar," Sky says proudly. "No but seriously … wouldn't it be easy for a spider to play guitar? They have so many legs."
"Ky they have eight," Noah snorts. "We have ten fingers."
Leaning back, Sky taps a thin nail brush against her hand. "I still think they'd be better at it. Give me your hand."
"Which one?"
"Whichever."
Noah holds out his left hand and Sky takes it in her own. She dips her bottle into a royal purple bottle of varnish, before leaning close to his delicate hand. Up close, his fingers are red around the nails, calloused and cut from guitar stings, and Sky frowns.
"Your hands look exactly like daddy's," Sky comments as she begins to paint carefully on the nail of his ring finger. "It's weird. They're just bigger."
"How so?" Noah asks curiously. He rests his head against the wall, his eyes falling shut as the setting sun shines too brightly in his face.
"They're all cut up and scarred," Sky says.
"Thank the guitar," Noah yawns. He cracks open an eye as he looks at his sister's bent head. "What are you doing?"
"Making your nails not boring," Sky replies as she moves to another finger. "You have a gig tomorrow, right?"
"Yeah."
"In the dark?"
"Yeah. Why?"
Sky looks up. She smiles devilishly at him before looking down again, leaving Noah slightly perplexed.
"Kids! Dinner is ready in five … what are you two doing?" Chan's voice grows nearer as he approaches the bedroom, popping his head in curiously. "Can I come in?"
"Sure," Noah smiles as their father joins their little congregation. "I was painting my nails and Ky is doing something I don't know what."
"I'm making them better," Sky declares as Chan sits beside her, peering over her shoulder. His eyes light up in awe as he takes in his daughter's art, and he restrains himself with some effort from hugging her, in fear of messing up her work.
"They look pretty, Little Cloud," Chan settles for instead. "Do you have a gig tomorrow, Noey?"
"I asked him that already," Sky grins. "He does."
"Yeah," Noah nods, turning to face Chan. "It's late."
"Have fun kiddo," Chan says, before his eyes catch sight of his ukulele. He picks it up, his fingers toying with the strings just like Sky previously, and the resemblance between them both makes Noah smile. "Be safe. You know how I feel about drugs but if you're going to do them then … "
"I'm not going to do drugs, dad," Noah laughs fondly. "Don't worry. You know I hate them as much as you do."
"Wrong," Sky intercedes. "You like painkillers. Painkillers are drugs."
Noah sighs just as Chan starts chuckling. "I hate recreational drugs, smart ass."
"Yeah, yeah."
Chan smiles as he watches his kids. As he does so, his fingers find the old chords of the song he used to love, and before he knows what's happening, he starts to play the opening of it.
"Oh here we go," Sky giggles as she draws over her brother's last nail. "I'm Yours, for the billionth time."
Chan bursts into shy giggles, his nose turning red. "I can't help it. It's the only song I know on here."
"Come to my gig tomorrow and maybe I'll play it too," Noah says, wiggling his eyebrows under his hair. "I'll dedicate it to you."
Chan perks up at that. "Sold. When does it begin?"
"At ten," Noah replies. Then he laughs, suddenly shy. "Are you really going to come?"
"Of course I am," Chan sets the ukulele down beside him carefully, picking up a cushion instead. He starts tugging at the seams the way he always does when he's holding a cushion. "I need to come and be the embarrassing dad."
"Oh my God," Sky snorts. "I'm done, Noey. Wait I'll put the top coat on."
"Thanks Ky," Noah grins.
Soon she's done and Noah holds his fingers hands out infront of him. Using neon colours, Sky has painted tiny things on each fingernail; music notes, stars, goofy smiley faces … they're bright against the stark black and Noah's mouth forms a little 'o' as he examines them closer.
"Woah," he breathes. "See what I mean? These are fucking amazing, Ky."
Grinning, the boy reaches over and playfully squishes his sister in an affectionate hug. He kisses her cheek, relishing in the way she squirms away from with a dissatisfied groan.
"If you do that again I will kill you," Sky rolls her eyes despite the smile spreading across her face. "And I'll get Eugene and Lana to kill you too. Oh, by the way they're glow in the dark. For the gig."

“I saw a solemn, but very pretty face looking at me from the side of the bed. It was that of a young lady who was kneeling, with her hands under the coverlet....”
“She caressed me with her hands, and lay down beside me on the bed, and drew me towards her...”
Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu's Carmilla 1872
