so as ever, monsters in classical literature have always been about queerness and outcasts, and i found so so interesting clover was a priest! which would be the equivalent of a law-ensuring role in this au. so right off the bat we get two characters who stand on different sides. freedom vs law, weird vs common, queer vs normativity

thus it’s fun to see chara tease and have the upper hand over clover! bc clover is trying their best to not admit what they desire, and chara knows it. I read somewhere the au was supposed to have a bittersweet ending and it makes sense. if there’s a cure it’s one that will be administered against chara’s will and by clover’s force, it’d break their relationship. meanwhile, clover converting to vampirism in the long run may mean death to the both of them and, well, death to the self: it won’t be clover anymore bc they’re too intertwined with their hate against The Other and cant come to understand they’re An Other as well
