Nigel transformation to a Vampire
Nigel being apart of the botherhood, the Knights of the Templar. He witnessed all the bloodied violence and took part in it.
How he becomes a vampire?
He goes to the holy lands, they were traveling through the desert, him and his men were attacked by the Mamluk army set to take Jerusalem, someone sold them out that they would be taking this route, someone who wanted them gone.
Nigel falls from his horse, he hits his head, unconscious as the men around him dies and these ambushers think he's dead because his horse is laying on top of him who's also dead.
Nigel vividly remembers seeing a woman/women — different faces of a maiden, mother, crone appearing in the side of his gaze, crows flying up over him and his men before the attack and he found it particularly odd but also he should've realized it was foreshadow of such a fate.
A desert storm woke him up, he managed somehow to push the dead horse off of him and he drags himself to try to find safety. He stumbled upon a cave, where he realizes he was indeed wounded, it was just the adrenaline keeping him alive and sheer will and hope. He sees the wound, it's infected, he wouldn't last not with such a storm and he braces himself for death.
Then he hears movement, something is in that cave with him, he isn't alone and he's on guard now.
Ever since as child Nigel was never afraid of the dark, he faces it, all the nightmares though it's genuinely messed him up. This thing, it moves carefully, sounds of soft flapping like a bird wings. Going closer he sees eyes —reddish/yellowish and he startled by the what he's seen but yet he isn't afraid, his silver cross dangles out his armor and chain vest, a gift from his mother for protection when he had embarked on his journey while his father only gifts were him scowling as he was too angry at his son for abandoning his role as heir when he took an oath that bonded him to God and the Church, swearing marriage and having children, a wealth.
This silver cross catches the creatures attention, it reaches out, claws snatching it off even as the cross burns its fresh, tossing it aside before stepping out into the dimmed light.
Tall and slender, with fine muscles outlined over its body, its face is obscured, inhumane with sharp, terrifying teeth and pointed ears and nose.
"Fear not," the voice spoke in his mind.
Only angels say those words and Nigel was convinced it was an angel he's come upon but he would soon realize how wrong he was.
The creature reads his mind and heart, knows he's unafraid but is rather in awe instead, it knows the wars Nigel's fought and the pagans temple he's brought down and how many worshipers of these other gods he's tortured and killed, he was so young but he was already a killing machine, a weapon created by the church, 'the wrath of God' they would call him at times as Nigel humbly ignores their praises and carry on doing his task. So young and has risen ranks, so young and holds no sort of remorse or empathy for lives he's taken.
The 'angel' was his final judgement, it decides Nigel whether he lives or dies and in the end it sees Nigel as a perfect candidate for its own wrath against humanity. It sees he's bleeding out and feeds him some of it's blood.
Nigel at first is cautious, unsure but the creature insisted and so he drank it, feeling the wounds closing in on itself, his senses sharper, than ever before, eyes seeing better in the dark, ears hearing the rats running about in the cave, the raging storm outside and he closes his eyes and feels the pounding of his own heart, so loud it's defeaning.
He feels the rushing of his own blood through his veins and arteries and suddenly there's a punch in his gut, his stomach recoils, knots and twists and he's on the floor screaming from the internal pain of his body 'dying'.
He doesn't become like the creature immediately, he's in the middle ground, he feels he's dying, for days on he's like this as the creature inspects him, torturing him to see how long he lasts and he lasts pretty darn long for someone without water or food.
About nearly a month before he feels himself caving in and giving up hope he'd been carrying.
That's when he hears the ground being dug, the creature creating a hole big enough for the two of them and he gently lifts Nigel up in his arms and wings blanketing him up before finally resting a kiss on his dying lips.
He shivers, unsure now if this was truly an angel, and it was only when it finally drains him of his own blood, tosses him dead yet somehow alive into the hole, climbing next to him cradling him like a lover then he realizes it was never an angel but a demon and by then it was too late, his mind and body was taken over and his soul was lost forever.
The confrontation is inspired by Midnight Mass with my own little spin on it and yes necrophilia was involved to change him, the phrase 'like a lover' isn't pulled directly from an interview with a vampire novel but it is inspired by it :)
I'm a little stressed with my life and writing something helps and thought I could write and share this with the fandom so here ya go!
