Necromancer - Shklance
Dudessss. If yaâll are still here for stories, youâre literally the best humans. I think itâs been months, what with mental health issues followed by the corona (because of course I would be âessential personnelâ and of course they increased our weekly hours to over 50) followed by the start of the semester, but Iâve been working on this off and on for a few weeks now, as well as some original stuff. So if you guys are interested in my original works, lemme know and Iâll post some of it. Who knows maybe itâll motivate me to actually finish one of my books.
Also, this is super rough, so be nice to me. Iâm playing around with some ideas here, so feedback is appreciated, and let me know if you want more of this au cause I havenât decided anything with it yet.
-----------------------------------
Hereâs the thing. The gods are real. Or at least someoneâs gods. Or maybe theyâre just god-like? Anyway, some clarification. Everyone agrees that these arenât like any of the gods we recognize. They donât quite match any of our religions (and boy did that infuriate Lanceâs grandmother), and they werenât like Zeus, or Anubis, or Odin, or any others we know of from legends. In fact, theyâre more like the monsters of myths.
And even further, theyâre absolute dicks.
With all their incredible power, they thought it would be prudent to impart some of their stupid gifts to us mere mortals, and in the process, they ruined Lanceâs life.
See, only a small percentage of humans were given a gift. Most of them were young adults, some teenagers. Supposedly some children will manifest as they mature, but the short of it was, Lance was the only one in his family to get one. Most of his family tried to be understanding and sympathetic about it, but some were jealous, others wary, and all of them were making Lance feel more alone than ever before.
At least his best friend kinda understood. Heâd been blessed by the shifter-god (as in god-who-can-shift, not god-that-shifters-worship). A fairly common gift by now, but still a useful one. Not to mention how cool it was. But, Hunkâs girlfriend Shay had been blessed, too, and was currently in attendance at the new Supernatural school with Hunk and Lance. Since the first day, the perfect couple had easily been able to make friends with the other students in their sections, even their dorms. Most still startled around Lance, but he was becoming used to that. One of these exceptions was a girl named Pidge. Well, her name was actually Katie, but she preferred to go by Pidge. She and her brother were geniuses, so they were great with Hunk and Shay, and tolerant of Lance, but heâd take what he could get.
Besides, Pidge and her brother Matt â technopaths â were almost impossible to mock, because they were actually childhood â best â friends with Lanceâs roommates, the hotshot vampire powerhouse couple of the school. Usually, students were grouped by their gift; in the dorm, they were for their comfort and safety. So far, the three of them were the exception. Of course, because the gods apparently hated Lance, he was one of those, because he was one of the only non-vamps in the dorms. Due to the nature of their existence, people naturally sough to avoid vampires, and they responded by forming their own nests, once again, carefully excluding Lance. Because even at a school of freaks, weirdos, and the powerful, Lance was of the worst.
       Lance was a necromancer.
A surprise to his family and to Hunk, because they always referred to him as a sunshine boy, always commented on his happy, goofy nature and attitude. Even with the dark nature of the gift, Lance remained his cheerful self â for the most part â for the first few months, but the constant abuse and isolation was starting to wear on him, and Lance knew it. He just couldnât tell if he cared. No one else did, right? His old friends were having the time of their lives. Even Hunk had yet to see past the mask Lance had taken on. All the other students were content to ignore or mock him, and even Lotor, the only other necromancer at the school, was enjoying the process of crushing Lance, both in the classroom and out. Lance was barely surviving.
And honestly, he probably wouldnât be if it werenât for his roommates. As fuckinâ weird as they were, even for vampires they had been kinder and more aware of Lance and his challenges than anyone else lately. When Lance was too drained physically and emotionally to go down for dinner, Keith brough t tray of food up to him, full of only human food and none of the blood the vampires included in their meals. And Lance hadnât missed how Shiro sometimes was there to help Lance to and from classes, cheerfully carrying on a very one-sided conversation and effectively ensuring that Lance didnât feel alone all the time. And even when they were alone in their dorm room studying, both of them did their level best to keep Lance included in their discussions. They refused to let him hide in his bedroom, which he had all to himself, as the previously assigned roommate refused to live with a necromancer. Instead, they dragged him out to the common room to study and then watch movies with them. Literally, Keith dragged him kicking and screaming that first time.
Sometimes, Lance wished that they werenât so determined to draw him out and be his friend. Like now, for example.
Sometimes, Shiro will announce a mandatory movie night and sleepover â seriously, having primarily nocturnal roommates was weird â and Lance always tried to duck into his room. Or sneak back out once they were wholly engaged in whatever movie they chose.
âLance,â Shiro spoke with utter calm, but Lance froze as if heâd been threatened. While Shiro didnât look up from his movie, Keith did, making direct contact with Lance, who bit his lip and glanced at the den and then looked back at Keith. Keith raised an eyebrow. âBat got your tongue, Lance?â
It took him a minute, but Lance found his voice. Not that it was gonna do him any good. âUmmm⌠I just⌠have some homework to finish, soâŚâ
âThat would mean that when you said you were done at dinner, you lied,â Keith observed. Shiro reached for the remote. âPull it out here, then, I have some reading I could do, too.â
Lance looked horrified at the thought of ruining their plans. He floundered, âNo! Uh, you donât have to do that! I can study on my own, itâs fine!â But Shiro was grabbing their books now, Keith watching Lance carefully. âOkay! Fine! I donât have any homework!â
Shiro brightened immediately. âGood! Then câmere so we can finish the movie; I wanna see how it ends!â How the hell could this giant, terrifying creature of the night be such a pup???
Lance managed a weak smile at the sight, âWell, Iâve already seen it, so Iâll probably just go to bed, but you guys should definitely stay and watch!â He shot a wary look at Keith, who was shaking his head.
âLance, youâre just as nocturnal as we are. Nearly all your classes are at night. And youâre a night owl, anyway. So whatâs the big deal?â
âDonât you guys ever get sick of it?â Lance finally burst out.
Shiro and Keith looked at him cautiously. âWhat are you talking about, Lance?â
âCome on, Shiro, look at me! The Reaper and all that bull, thereâs no way you guys actually want to spend time with me! And even if you did, donât you ever want just some time with Keith? Well, Iâm trying to give that to you, except you guys wonât let me just leave so that I can leave you to it, and oh my God you probably hate me so much for taking up so much of your time, and I canât believe I did this to you Iâm so sorry, I-I just, I canât, ugh, just let meââ But before Lance could dart for the door, Keith caught hold of his wrist, his own abilities coming in handy to keep ahold of Lance, even as the pictures on the walls and lamps rattled dangerously as Lanceâs own powers spiked, black fog seeping out from beneath him. Lanceâs eyes were tightly squeezed shut, and Shiro was careful as he approached and put a hand on Lanceâs arm.
âLance. We like spending time with you, promise.â
But Lance just shook his head, sobs now wracking his whole body. Keith let out a soft noise, drawing Lance close enough that he could wrap him up in a hug. Shiro enveloped them both, wrapping his arms around Keithâs back, and protecting Lanceâs back as he did so. This close, Shiro didnât need heightened senses to hear Keith whispering reassurances in Lanceâs ear, and Shiro let himself join, knowing from past experience that the way his chest ârumbledâ would help to soothe Lance further, and soon enough, Lance was swaying as his exhaustion hit him. Keith and Shiro worked together to maneuver Lance down the hall and into their own bed. They knew that this wasnât going to solve all of their problems, but at least they could be there for their brilliant, bright boy tonight.
Live Through the Night
Sheith | Vampire au | explicit | ch 4 | 12k
excerpt
Shiroâs tone is careful, deceptively placid when he asks, âAre you sure?â
Silently, Keith steps towards him, locking eyes with a slow shake of his head, floorboards creaking under his weight. âJust donâtââ he swallows at the black of Shiroâs pupils, already feeling their pull. ââNo thrall, okay.â
The nails of Shiroâs hand are lengthening to points as he moves as well. Drawing up until heâs directly in front of Keith and trailing his fingers down the bare of Keithâs arm to wrap them around his delicate wrist.
Thereâs a hammering in Keithâs throat, the lump so big he can hardly breathe. He watches as Shiro runs a thumb along bluish veins connecting hand to arm, imagines the throbbing of his blood like a visible pulse. When he lifts his eyes itâs to see pearly fangs descending, glistening with saliva that end in wicked looking peaks.

Loverâs Kiss (AO3 Link)
Lance relaxed into the messed up sheets and shoved his face into the cloud-like pillows. He looked forward to waking up in these comfortable blankets every morning. It beats the cold and dirty ground that he once had to sleep on for almost a year. Now, he was in a cozy room surrounding by expensive items, lying in the comfiest bed in existence. And it would only cost him a small price that was more of a bonus to him.
The door behind him opened with a creak and closed with a click. He didnât turn to face Shiro and instead focused on burrowing himself deeper into the bed. There was shuffling behind him, and the bed dipped as Shiro sat down next to Lance.
Vampire!Shiro Sneak peek on this thingy thing sketch I'm working on when bored. I wanted to bring Shiro into the Adventure Time AU, but couldnât find a logical way to do that???
So I caved and made him the hot vampire king instead.Â
Feed, Pt. 2
Lance woke up feeling cotton-headed and bleary-eyed. No matter how hard he tried to focus, he couldnât remember anything since meeting the two gorgeous vampires. Sure, theyâd been starving, but he had been in a similar situation and he was totally willing to be their last meal, if needed. Heâd even made sure his friends were safe before he headed the hunters off. Heâd been hoping when he headed towards the woods that he would get the chance to hunt, but the hunters had been faster than expected. Forcing him to constantly move was very effective in starving him out, and the church had really been a last-ditch effort. It was an old one, primarily used by witches from the town, but the magic was old. The witches had been driven out months before. It was honestly a miracle Lance and his friends had lasted as long as they had. He figured if he was gonna die, he could at least die well-rested. And dry. It smelled like rain was coming.
But the real question was⌠Why wasnât Lance dead? After feeding those vampires, he was as good as. And⌠where were his clothes? No way it was a full moon already⌠right? Or had he really lost that much track of time while starving? He caught a scent, somehow still incredibly delicious though thoroughly dead, and he tried to scramble to his feet, but it seemed he still lacked the strength to do so. One of the vampires from earlier moved to catch him, the scent creating a beautiful sunburst of light in his mind, reminding him of hunts with his pack, fun-filled afternoons with his friends, happy childhood memories. Lance whimpered.
The other vampire came to his other side, working with his friend to help Lance to a nearby pew. âShhh, shh. Youâre okay. Youâre safe. Youâre fed.â A questioning growl slipped through Lanceâs throat, and he cringed, regretful that he couldnât seem to form real words and had to resort to such primal ways of communication, but they didnât seem offended.
Instead, the first vampire tossed his head, aiming to get his white floof of hair out of his face, and chuckled quietly. âPromise, youâre just fine. I just think we gave you a little too much to eat, sorry about that.â The other moved to push him back so he was laying on the bench as he continued, âYou were just so generous, letting us feed from you, and there are hunters around and we couldnât just leave you to starve or get caught, so we took you to the woods with usââ
âHunting animals is a lot harder than I thought it would be, but we managed okay between the two of us.â This shorter, younger vampire (and he was younger, Lanceâs head was clearing a little now and he could tell from his scent) sounded irritated, but he also looked amused, so. Lance was just gonna go with amused for now.
âRight, and we hunted for you and you were too weak to do much at first, but as soon as you smelled the fresh blood, I think, you transformedââ
âDoes transforming hurt, by the way? Because it looked like it hurt.â Lance thought he smelled nervousness coming off of this vamp, but the floof guy settled a large hand on his shoulder and he calmed almost instantly.
âYou transformed and kinda went crazy on the deer we caught. And we didnât know how much was too much, or even if it was okay to try and stop you, so you might have gorged yourself and then passed out, so we just brought you back here and waited for you to slip back into this formâŚâ And here he hesitated, but his partner had no qualms.
âYou do know the full moon was four days ago, right?â
And damn it, because if that was true, then Lance was in trouble. He leapt up from the pew, but Shiro and Keith caught him in an ironclad hold before he could run out of the church and probably to his death. âGuys, guys, I was supposed to meet my friends ages ago, you gotta let me go!â But he knew he was struggling in vain. The vampires had had more time to settle and regain their strength, and from the sounds of it, Lance had had a couple of forced transformations.
The younger simply looked at him. âNah, I think weâd rather have an explanation, actually.â
His friend nodded. âAnd then weâll go with you to find your friends, if you want.â
And it was funny, when Lance looked at them, he thought he saw a weird gleam in their eyes, but he convinced himself he mustâve been imagining it. Instead, he slumped in their hold and they eased him back to the bench, settling him in between them.
âIf what you said is true,â Lance said after a short pause, âthen that first transformation was a delayed one. Wouldâve taken more out of me. And yes, absolutely wouldâve hurt. Like hell. Kinda glad I donât remember that part.â One of the vampires growled, but Lance just continued. The sooner he finished this, the sooner he could take off. He hummed thoughtfully. âI was starving⌠Probably didnât have the energy to shift. Part of that might have been me, actually⌠I donât like shifting without eating first, makes it harder to control the wolf when itâs hungry. But I was almost definitely too weak to transform. Hmmm⌠And then smelling the blood⌠The wolf probably just got too desperate, so I transformed to go for the food. Previous starvation, plus a forced shift, plus all that food at once⌠No wonder I passed out, honestly. How long did it take me to transform back?â
He glanced up at the vampires, surprised to see they  looked so upset with him. But the older answered. âAbout twelve hours?â
âYa, that sounds about right.â Lance cautiously moved to stretch out his arms in front of him, then lifted his legs parallel to the floor and stretched them out, too. The vampires were staring, but he didnât pay them any mind. âWell, my body seems to be in working order. I should probably be heading out. My pack and friends will be wondering about me.â
But when he stood, the vampires stood, too. Lance frowned. âUm. Guys? I said Iâm good. I appreciate what you did for me, really, but I need to go. And Iâm sure you have better things to do than just follow me around, soââ
âWhat are you talking about?! You saved our lives!â Lance didnât know what to say to that. Why did this guy seem so angry right now?
âWell, I mean. Ya, I did, but you saved mine? So arenât we even?â
The older vampire gave him a fond look. âOf course not. You saved both of us. Thatâs two. We only saved you once.â Lance stared at him in disbelief. âVampires take debts very seriously.â And how the hell did he say that with a straight face???
Lance snorted. âI actually know for a fact thatâs not a thing about your species.â They both gave him sheepish looks, but they still seemed very determined, so Lance shrugged. âBut maybe itâs a thing for you two, so whatever. So long as you can keep up, I guess.â
He swung his arms, stretching his limbs as he approached the large church doors. âYou ready for this? Those hunters will be closing in soon, we might have to break their ranks, so you better be ready.â The bright grin he shot them caused their hearts to melt, and they moved quickly to join him, stopping him only to introduce themselves properly before they made their break for freedom.
The older put his hand on Lanceâs arm, squeezing lightly. âMy nameâs Shiro. This is Keith. Whatâs your name?â
Lance turned back briefly, shooting them a look full of promise and mischief. âLance.â
đ with Lance maybe? (Maybe make another paladin the vampire or an alien?)
im back with more!! đ
