It was supposed to have been a dark and stormy night.
“I chose this night specifically for the weather,” the mad scientist huffed. “I can’t believe I fell for it again.”
The scientist’s lab assistant shrugged his hump. “I thought I heard a rumbling a few miles past the village.”
The scientist shook his head. “Villagers, at their annual block party.”
The assistant looked upon the body tied up on the gurney. The sewing job was perfect. If it didn’t storm soon, the experiment would be ruined. “Maybe you need to try a different weather app next time.”
“Well, that doesn’t help me now.”
They both bent their heads, entranced by their phones, searching for an answer.
Suddenly, a thunderclap, and a lightning bolt surged across the sky. The elecrodes in the creatures neck lit up and a smell of burnt flesh permeated the air. The creature opened its eyes and looked toward the two curious humans.
“That hurt,” he said.
