Dominion Chapter 5: A Worthy Creature
Will served, his skin tingling when his shoulder lightly brushed Mike’s, and then Mr. Ashby smiled, tapping his own lip.
“What happened there, my boy?” he asked Mike jovially. “Were you in a brawl?”
Will’s pulse ticked up, and he stiffened. Mike shifted in his chair, his eyes flashing towards Will briskly before wiping his mouth with his napkin.
“Nothing so interesting,” he mused, keeping his voice light. He cleared his throat as he swallowed. “I pushed Artemis a little too far in the south field and she threw me.”
Lady Roane’s eyes widened with horror. “You did not tell me!” she scolded. “You said you had taken a spill in the garden!”
Mike rolled his eyes.“I did not wish to worry you, Mother.”
Lady Roaned huffed. Nancy glared at her brother disapprovingly. Holly was whispering and giggling close to Steve, who, in bad form, chose her as a companion over Lord Roane to his right.
“Besides,” Mike continued. “I am fine. It was nothing. Just a small…tribulation. She did not mean to do me any harm. She was a powerful creature driven to fright.
When Mike peered up at him again from across the table, Will’s heart skipped a beat, and he sighed. He felt off-balance, as if Mike’s gaze could shove him backwards and pin him helplessly to the wall. What the man would do to him once he had him there, Will wasn’t sure. The thought was terrifying and irresistible all at once, and it made the blood pool hot and heavy between Will’s legs. @souverian-are-we
