wow, what a delightful request :D the only problem is that it turned out too long, so i hope you don't mind me posting it in parts by character. anyway, behold: Part 1, Harrier Hawke

1. Do they have any crafting hobbies?

No, not really - while Harrier inevitably picked up plenty of useful skills during his life, none of them interested him outside of their immediate purpose. His cool cousin Bernard, however, has one - following his and Determination’s fascinations with bones they occasionally delve into bone carving and/or squishing Harrowhark-Nonagesimus-style (and yes, he did make a little boner charm once)

2. Do they wear perfume/cologne? If so what scents do they prefer?

Not initially - until act 2 Harrier has very little money/desire to - he considers just being clean enough and would rather have to deal with just sweat then sweat mixed with some cheap shitty thing. During and after act 2 however he starts to use ever stronger flower/herb scented perfume to somewhat hide the smell of healing ointments he uses more and more for his arms (would be stupid to out yourself as a bloodmage just after settling down somewhat) and also cause it’s a thing that rich people do; and since Harrier is also rich now -  why go against the current? esp when it’s nice stuff and not whatever Red Irons were bathing in (and drinking occasionally)

16. Do they have or want kids?

Before and during act 2 he entertained the thought occasionally, a bit more often after reclaiming the estate - Leandra did talk plenty about him getting married and settling the Amell-Hawke family back in Kirkwall (even tho after twins’ deaths Harrier seriously doubted his ability to take care of anyone, not mentioning actual children). After Leandra’s death tho he drops it completely - he never says it aloud but he seriously afraid that his family is somehow doomed to die terrible unnatural deaths, so he is scared to call or even think about anyone as family (even tho he considers Anders and Merrill part of it)

18. How easy is it to become their enemy?

Easier than it seems, harder than it should be - he simultaneously looks like the kind of funnyguy who doesn’t hold grudges (he absolutely does) and while he’s way of plenty of people he usually waits till the very last moment to decide that he hates someone and considers them his enemy (he is a charmer at heart and tries his damn best to not get things to open confrontation. his best isn’t very good but still) So in the end it’s pretty tricky to figure if he is still in jokey-neutral stance with you or he’s already tipped into animosity.

27. Has a chance encounter ever had an unexpected effect on them?

that is SUCH a good episode tho ;_____;

Godddd it really is. Teyla is so fucking amazing, and Ronon’s so smart. And of course John and Rodney are cute - racing cars! - and competent and.

Haha I’m somewhere in the middle – I find the angsty lifespan/giving the baby up/dark past speculations a bit tiresome, but I also do not think he has ever properly processed his trauma. (and given how things have been going for the mandos recently… might be more there than what we’ve seen yet) But then the whole show feels like a mostly optimistic trauma recovery narrative where he’s finally able to make some lasting bonds with people, so maybe that helps me there lol

3. In your opinion, what’s your best fic?

Probably Raining on Broadway, my broadway!AU for Deadpool. But a perennial fave of mine that no one else likes half as much is my Arthur/Eames 1950′s movie musical AU.....actually, I think I might have just learned something about myself as an author. It’s just. That’s a lot of musical AUs for one person. 

5. Is there any fic that makes you super happy to reread and remember you wrote that?

The fic I wrote where Bucky has an emotional support dinosaur springs to mind. Her name is Muffy. She eats houseplants, plays fetch, and whines when Bucky’s not nearby. 

19. If you had to pick one fic/scene/chapter of your work to describe your entire portfolio to a stranger, which would you pick?

From Diving into the Wreck, my unfinished Star Trek!AU for Tony/Rhodey:

Tony’s father had given him an escape pod for his fifth birthday and it was the best exchange between father and son in their entire history.

Actually, it was creative thinking on Tony’s part that had reached the conclusion that the escape pod belonged to him with the full express permission of his father.

Howard Stark had been busy at the time. He had a fleet of experimental ships with even more experimental phase canons to negotiate and then sell to Starfleet, not to mention captaining the flagship vessel in its test run on a three-year mission around Mab-Bu VI. Tony had been underfoot a lot--he’d actually only been brought on that particular mission as a PR display of the family-friendly safety rating for the new Stark fleet--and Howard had waved him away with something vaguely like permission, but more like a, “not now, Tony.”

But Tony had loved that escape pod from the age of five through his fifteenth birthday when Howard forgotten (with characteristically awful timing) which one was the one Tony claimed and had ordered that it be used in a test of one of the new(er) canons. Tony had tried to argue down the mechanic at the bay doors and then the other engineer remote piloting it, had tried getting into his father’s office behind the bridge to argue with him (stopped there with yet another “not now, Tony”). Nothing had worked and Tony had watched on the viewscreen down in engineering as his escape pod was vaporized.

Tony hadn’t cried, but had bought the first junked (but spaceworthy) ship lying around the next space station they docked at. He’d bought it and he’d been gone within hours.

32. Who’s the one character who shines without you even trying?

I always think about doppelganger for this one actually - literally everyone else: evil!clone sheppard threatens or actively tries to MURDER them Rodney: “but what if John is just pretending to be my friend and actually thinks I’m weak and stupid and doesn’t like me tho :(” (tho trinity is probably the moment he realizes HOW important john’s trust was to him, having lost it, extremely good point haha)

literally all evil!clone John has to do is sit back, arms crossed, and be like, “You’re going to die out here” and other negative things. And it works. Rodney gets more worked up.

so like. my feeling is that him doing the whole last name basis thing is a last desperate attempt to retain SOME control/distance because he *wants* something (john’s friendship (cough cough) & being worthy of it) so much and it scares him and he probably doesn’t quite understand it (double scary). also the first time he uses ‘john’ is over an issue they’re mutually emotionally vulnerable over (elizabeth dying) which is So Much uh Welcome To My TED talk lol

I AM DROWNING IN FEELS

John’s part of the military and they always use last names - or rank + last names. So Rodney’s very careful to use only that, even if the others are calling him John. I wonder if Rodney’s also uncertain about his relationship with John - like, they hang out playing The Game during their downtime, they discuss comic books and such, but Rodney’s not quite sure if it’d be welcome if he used John’s first name, even if they do everything that friends do.

at the VERY least there’s a lot of emotional vulnerability stuff going on there – you get the sense that john is one of the few people rodney genuinely just wants to *like* him; normally he’s more concerned with people respecting his intellect even if they don’t like him personally, but I think he respects john pretty much from the start and wants something *more* even if he can’t verbalize it. john not actually liking him is literally his worst nightmare!!! D:D:D:

Oh, Rodney.

there is something irresistible about it, isn’t there – I think ‘The Last Man’ planted something in my brain about it and it regularly blooms into full angst verdancy haha
