Vacuous Green

A simple 1 bed, 1 bath house in Del Sol Valley. I made use of the debug item houses from Get Famous to help blend this house in with the rest of the neighbourhood, so the "house" on the left is just décor. This lot is just too big!

I got the idea to make some kind of a 'solar farm' in TS4... I was curious to see if somelthing like that would work. :) I've finished a rough version of the build (on the 50x40 'Vacuous Green' lot in Del Sol Valley) and still have to thourougly playtest it. For the playtesting part, I've built an underground lair for Alistair Morcubus, with his living quarters behind a hidden door (the bookcase door which is one of the career unlocks).

The ground level is mainly dominated by the solar panels, hidden from view by a hedge. There is a small building on ground level, with an reception area and a stair way to reach the main 'tech' room which is situated downstairs in the first level basement. Alistair's 'secret' living quarters are in the second basement level, accesed by another stairway hidden behind the bookcase door.

Alistair is going to enroll in an university to study Villainy (with some tech/logic related elective classes), and he will work some odd jobs to earn a little bit of money on the side. He won't start out poor, but we'll have to see how long his starting funds will last (see the questions below ;)).

Some questions to research while playtesting:

how much money can be earned by selling the generated power and does it offset the lot taxes (the lot value is over 200k simoleons! 🙈)?

are the panels routable for maintenance?

how much work/time does it cost to maintain the panels? Can one sim do it alone or does Alistair need a butler and/or 'minions'?

Del Sol Valley Redux | Vacuous Green → Southwestern Modern

“This lot used to be a lovely little townhome, but in the last few years after the fires, it has been a vacant lot. Ready to be groomed and built upon.”

Groomed and built upon it was! I haven’t forgotten the Mirage Park lots in my quest to renovate all of Del Sol Valley. (Though, to be fair, the other two lots are half-built, back-burner WIPs, and, like everyone else, I’m way more excited about StrangerVille right now.) I’ve made it my goal to give all the “homeless” Sims that came with Get Famous a place to live—and this is the home of Dirk Dreamer and Holly Alto. 

The home is a modern pueblo revival mansion with abundant space for entertaining, creating, and escaping the hustle and bustle of the city. Exposed wooden beams, artisan tile work, and rustic, southwestern-style pieces bring warmth to the largely concrete and stucco structure. The master suite fills the second story of the front portion of the house, with Holly’s home painting studio and a guest room accessible by a second flight of stairs from the back of the house. The property also houses a small office for Dirk’s tech startup. It’s small—employees have to make a trek to the main house to use the bathroom—but there’s a conference room, workstations for 5, and, most importantly, there’s coffee. 

In my save, Dirk and Holly are a well-known up-and-coming celebrity couple. Dirk’s success as an app developer has brought him fame and fortune, but Holly, his creative and carefree life partner, keeps him grounded and committed to being a positive force in the world. I like to think that they built this home as their dream home together and that the southwestern decor is the perfect fusion between Holly’s bohemian roots and Dirk’s love of classic Western cinema.
