hey!! do you know where i can find pictures of crocodile sharks that arent dead... and do you know the reason why all the pictures of them are usually dead sharks?? im just curious fhakd
There’s a lot of shark species, particularly the lesser known ones, for which it’s really difficult to find photos of live individuals. There’s a couple reasons, mainly that in order to get said photos, someone has to go and take them, which means that sharks that aren’t seen as often, or aren’t sought out for pictures don’t get photographed.
The reason there are picture of dead sharks often is they’re a lot easier to take than the ones where the shark is swimming around. Also, dead sharks in photos are usually specimens that are being examined to learn more about its biology (or the result of fishing/bycatch, but those you can usually tell by the image).
There having the shark be already dead is useful because they can get a clear image without worrying about movement, which can be referenced and used in their analysis of whatever they happen to be doing.
Sadly I don’t know where to find pictures of live crocodile sharks. I try to avoid using pictures of dead sharks when I can, especially gory ones, but it’s often very difficult to find live ones.
