I updated my Uzundara drawing from last year for @agavnythepigeon Split Pomegranate zine (prints updated on my INPRNT proceeds still go to All for Armenia!). I made the update because I've had very little time to doodle, and I'd like the Dancing Through SWANA series to be cohesive so when I finish it they can share a poster. Let me know what dance I should do next.

Took me forever to figure out the print part, but now you can order directly from INPRNT (link in my bio). INPRNT takes 50% of the sale so you can also Venmo me and I can get you a print directly. It will be lower quality paper and take longer to reach you, but more $ will reach the organization. The uzundara (Ուզունդարա) is a traditional dance performed by brides in Artsakh. Swipe to find a YouTube clip to the dance, which consists of slow, methodical, circular steps (syzme) and delicate hand movements. I hope drawing this dance can elevate the joy and resilience of the Armenian people and culture. I chose to research and celebrate Artsakh traditional clothing, based on the History Museum of Armenia exhibit on the region. It states this includes an upper shirt (virvi halav-վիրվի հալավ) and outfit called “irekpshkani,” worn over a chemise.
