Carbonxt Group Limited (ASX: CG1) is making significant strides in the U.S. cleantech sector, as highlighted in its March 2025 Quarterly Activities Report. The company's Kentucky activated carbon facility is in the final stages of commissioning, with commercial production expected to commence soon. The Kentucky plant has achieved mechanical completion, with final electrical and insulation work underway. Once operational, the facility will significantly increase Carbonxt's output of activated carbon products, including Granular Activated Carbon (GAC), enabling the company to enter the liquid-phase treatment market. 

3. Describe each of the major territorial gains the United States underwent between 1803 an 1853.

The Louisiana Purchase in 1803 was the first and biggest purchase by the expanding US. Napoleon Bonaparte of France originally owned the land because he had plans to establish an empire in North America. But when France needed more money Napoleon decided to sell it. Thomas Jefferson bought the land for $15 million and basically doubled the size of the current territory. Broken down, Jefferson paid pennies for acres.

In  1819, Florida was purchased from Spain for $5 million after military pressures from the US. 

In 1836 the Texas area had rebelled from the Mexican government and established an independent republic, the Lone Star Republic.  In 1845, Congress annexed Texas in order to pursue “manifest destiny” (mission for expansion). 

The Oregon and Washington area had been jointly occupied by the US and England since 1818. In 1846 they decided to divide the land in halves along the 49th parallel matching the boarder of the Louisiana Purchase.

After the annexation of Texas, President James Polk provoked a war with Mexico in order to take control of more of their land. Mexico was defeated and the Mexican Cession occurred in 1848. The US and Mexico signed Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo where they recognized Texas as a US state and gave the US about half of the land that had belonged to the Mexican republic for $15 million.

The last purchase to solidify the continuous US was made in 1853 with the Gadsden Purchase. This small area was bought for $10 million from Mexico but was essential for a railroad route.
