arguably one of the most well-known stucky fics in the fandom, like ive found stuff on etsy w/ the quoteĀ āwomb to tomb, sweetheartā and ive seen it as blog titles etc etc
this is actually the second fic in a series, but this one was my fav and imo can be read as a standalone although i do recommend reading the entire series in order bc it becomes that much more heartwrenching
since the summary doesnt do much except make u cry once uve finished the actual fic, the series is an AU in which steve survives the plane crash, marries peggy, and finds out years later that bucky was in love with him when thirteen letters that he wrote to an anonymous recipient and never sent are found and published in the newspaper
if u like GAY ANGST and steve saying the wordsĀ āi am bisexualā then this series will be right up ur alley

In which Steve Rogers loses God and finds God and loses God, and also: Bucky.
this fic is a goddamn MASTERPIECE like honestly just some really excellent storytelling and world-building and tears lots of tears
it is also canon compliant and has a lot of headcanon-y stuff for pre wwii steve and bucky which is just A+++

i think this started as a series of AU oneshots but then eventually morphed into something with a more linear storyline but all in all one of my all time favorite fics like i reread this at least once a month or smth
the author does a phenomenal job of taking the AU and paralleling it perfectly with canon (while still keeping some of the actual canon elements re: supersolder serum) but yes 500 stars a must read for sure

For a second paranoia takes over, and he kicks the flowers a little, waiting for them to explode. They donāt. They also came with a card, which he picks up. The front of the card has a tasteful picture of the Brooklyn bridge at sunset. Itās very nice and sedate, like the kind of card you would buy to give to your boss. On the inside someone has written a short message in big, shaky block letters.

this is NOT a painful angsty fic but instead steve has a baby and owns a successful bakery, and bucky is an out of work veteran who has a pinterest addiction and becomes steves slightly unwilling nanny and the fluff will rot your teeth and make u fall out of bed from rolling around and wailing about these Useless Bisexuals In Love trust me, i speak from experience
