So for the past month, I just binged Nagi no Asukara/A Lull in the Sea before it left Netflix. I finished it about a week ago and got curious about Uroko-sama's character. So, I started a character exploration. Today, I was goofing around with Google translate for a story and decided to see what fish scale is in Japanese.
It's Uroko.
His name is literally Lord Fish Scale.
“How dare you confine me to such a small space!” - Uroko, who has had just about enough of the lockdown, probably.
Does this count as content for Mermay? Surely a sea dragon is close enough... (deep pondering)
Finally got in a good photoshoot with Uroko at an actual beach (not just a pond...) and had fun attempting some sort of aquarium photography as well. I got looots of pictures from this shoot so probably more later.
P.S. I don’t understand how people can dislike the smell of the ocean. It’s great???? But now you know why I cosplay Uroko

Introducing my cosplay of Lord Uroko from Nagi no Asukara (also known as A Lull in the Sea)! I have no impulse control whatsoever and I love the ocean so I made this costume for my birthday, while the wig was a gift from a family member.
Obviously, I’m going to try to take lots of pictures of him near water... this particular photoshoot was at a spot everyone calls “Narnia” because it’s supposedly magical (fitting?).

As of last week I had never heard of Nagi no Asu Kara, but I just watched all 26 episodes over the span of four days! I really liked the aesthetic, and honestly it was stumbling across a picture of Uroko-sama that got me curious to watch it in the first place. I had a day off today and needed a break from sewing, plus I really wanted to make a colored drawing of Uroko-sama, so here it is!! I'm happy with how it turned out, and it's been a really long time since I finished a fully colored drawing, so I'm just glad I still remember how. T____T
I really like blue fire as an aesthetic, too, so the moment in the first episode where he picked up the sacred flame really stood out to me, and hence became the inspiration for this piece!
