Auraugust Day 21 - Unite
Today I'm thinking about how Aki has never been in a relationship before, and how mortified Thancred and Urianger would be to find this out. Like, for context, Thancred and Aki had 2 one-night-stands in heavenward when they were both grieving over Minfilia, and then they didn't talk about it until they both almost died on Ultima Thule, at which point they confessed their feelings and got together. Meanwhile Urianger encouraged Aki and Thancred to talk to one another while not acknowledging his own feelings for both of them until they basically dragged it out of him.
There was no "dating" involved in any of this.
When Thancred realizes that he has robbed Aki of the experience of going out and meeting someone, flirting, being taken out on a date? He has to make this right. He's too selfish to tell Aki to go explore and meet other people, but at least he can treat Aki to the rest of the dating experience. He starts pulling out all the stops: taking Aki on elaborate dates, buying him flowers, even writing songs for Aki.
Urianger catches on quick, and is not one to be outdone. He starts writing poems for Aki, and leaving them for him to find, along with other little notes and love letters.
Aki does not know what to do with all this attention. He definitely gets super flustered but secretly he loves it.
Auraugust Day 1 - Adventure
"So. What's next for our humble adventurer?" "I think I'll join Thancred and Urianger, for a while. You know I'm not one to stay in one place for long."
my favourite thing about Aki and Thancred and Urianger is how none of them can be normal about one another
they all built up all these feelings and didn't talk about it for so long that by the time they finally get together, they're way too intense about it
Aki and Thancred are particularly clingy and weird about each other, both overprotective—every time they see each other they're scanning the other one for injuries
"are you okay?" is a constant refrain in their relationship
Urianger is pretty good at getting Aki and Thancred to talk to each other about their feelings, but he is not one to follow his own advice
it probably takes months after they all get together for them to get to a point of being able to go on a casual date
in the meantime they will be:
constantly staring intensely into each other's eyes from across the room
sleeping all entangled together in the same bed so that when one of them wakes from a nightmare, they can immediately be sure the others are okay
physically checking each other over every time one of them comes back from a trip, even if it was just a trip to the market
