Murun, Khuvsgul Province, Mongolia While Ulaanbaatar has experienced a rapid growth, the city has not been able to keep up with the growth and approximately 60% of the residents live in the mountainous areas surrounding the city in the so-called ger districts (areas without access to basic necessities such as electricity and water, and with a maze-like built form due to the 2 m high fences surrounding the properties). The rural town of Murun (as pictured) however, has been surveyed and properly planned with a grid system.
