ok so botw divine beasts are called divine beast bc when they were still in production or smth the sheikah (shiekah?) wanted it to be clear they they were made to assist the hero/princess so they named them after a legend that, at the time was common place. A hero who was more than a hero, a hero who was blessed (cursed?) into the form of a divine beast. over time what beast he was got lost, but it boiled down to: A beast blessed by the divine slew an evil and helped (was?) the hero/princess1/2
