Enjoyed researching Kangaroo's at The Australian Reptile Park, today 12 hours in the studio. Was a delight an honour to have Gundungurra Elder & old Gully resident, Mary Cooper-King in the audience at the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre, Saturday the 12th of July. Other activities that made part of the NAIDOC Celebration Day included: Burra Burra Carreng Golangry (Gundungurra language) Men Possum Skin Cloak - Young Fathers Project Launch, Aboriginal Cultural Materials Talk by Aunty Sharyn Halls, Aboriginal Wood Carving Demonstration by Lexodious Dadd & Sharing Stories DVD Launch with Sharon Brown and Chris Tobin.

Common Ground is a research project between choreographers Ian RT Colless and Lara Kramer founded in 2011. The purpose of this research project is to support the collaboration between two aboriginal artists in their development of a shared body of movement research. Ian RT Colless is an Australian dancer and choreographer based between New York City and Sydney Australia. He is a descendant from the Dharabuladh (Therabulat) clan of the Gundungurra Nation and current Artistic Director of international arts entity Untitled|Collective. Lara Kramer is a Montreal based First Nations choreographer and performer. She is Ojibwa and Cree from her mother's lineage. Together Ian and Lara will continue to examine how their self-identity as Indigenous may influence their process and development of movement vocabulary. Their creative research will explore their self-image as an Aboriginal person, questioning some of the stereotypes of what is "Aboriginal." Working with irony and satire, they will investigate the notions of "Aboriginality" within the context of dominant culture to generate the physicality and theatricality of their research. Drawing from personal histories both Ian and Lara will address some of the key issues that shape their subjective understandings of Aboriginality. They will explore how their personal expressions, theatricality and physicality can be shaped by the themes, developing impressions of their culture and identity through a rich body of work. The research will be reflective of both their individual and shared aesthetics, linking a "Common Ground" between Australia and Canadian First Nations peoples.
