I will have to go against Ilkay's og lore for this one:

The Crown Prince of Philos, Xavier Shen, travels to the moon, where he meets the royal family there. Ilkay, one of the youngest princes, is the one to receive him along with the crown prince. He's appointed to be Xavier's guide for the duration of his stay. Guides him to his chambers, wishes him a good day of rest and tells him to ask for him if he ever has questions or wishes to wander the castle since it's easy to get lost in it. He promises to come back the next day with a light schedule for Xavier to see everything.

Xavier gets lost not even 30 fucking minutes later cause he wanted to wander off and see the castle for himself. It somewhat works in his favor cause he stumbles into the palace garden that Ilkay tends to.

Back to his original lore and the whole reason for this post:

I think... For this one, it would be a bit of a twist on the Backtrackers and very fucking angsty.

Ilkay, sent by the newly appointed Queen, joins the Backtrackers. Much like Jeremiah, he sticks close to Xavier and pretty much acts like his knight even though he's no longer the crown prince.

When some of their crew defects, Ilkay is always there beside Xavier, unwaveringly loyal and trusting. Xavier doesn't feel worthy, but Ilkay doesn't care. Not only did he make a promise to the Queen he will keep come heaven and hell, he also doesn't want to break it. He might be absolutely gone for Xavier but he'll be damned if he doesn't help him find a solution for Philos so he can reunite with his Queen.

Almost fell asleep while listening to

Ilkay orbits him as Xavier orbits the sun at the center of the ballroom.

It's almost symbolic.

Whether it's a warning, a confession or a reassurance is yet to be defined, but one thing is for sure; the moon will always be watching, always within reach.

Regardless of their thoughts, they must admit that it's a beautiful sight to behold. They catch the light and reflect it as they glide through the ballroom in perfect synchronicity.

"You said you were rusty," Xavier's voice is soft, "yet here you are, perfectly following along," His lips lift into a barely there teasing smile, something only Ilkay can catch, "I dare say you're even having your own fun, your royal highness."

"It is easy to follow along when your imperial highness lays the groundwork," there's a twinkle of mischief in Ilkay's eyes, a reflection of light, a locked gravitational pull, "besides, he who warns does not betray; there may still come a time where I'll step on your feet."

Xavier chuckles, and Ilkay smiles, but he never does step on his feet. They get lost in their own little bubble, having gentle conversations that lull and pick back up, the pauses marked with each time they get lost in each other's eyes.
