hoooo boy my actual otp of all otps

when I started shipping it if I did: i only started shipping it in early february of last year!! but i’d always felt it could work, i never really spoke up about it when the les mis fandom was SUPER active after the film in 2012 came out because all our lovely shippers got horrid unnecessary hate :(((( fortunately, there’s not much hate anymore!! thank god for that.

my thoughts: i will forever have love in my heart for these two beyond any ship in all honesty. something about them just changed a lot of perspectives for me. this is the first heterosexual ship i have ever poured my entire heart and soul into (i am not straight at all haha) & i love how much inspiration came from these two complex personalities into my writing. i improve everyday because of writing for these two nerds! i owe a lot to my e/é obsession.

What makes me happy about them: they are exactly what you want in a ship when you think “where do i find two people that are polar opposites yet could be the biggest power couple of a century?” not only is this ship amazing, but the e/é fandom is so great in general!! it’s a really loving community, with brilliant artists and writers. you could place enjolras and éponine in any sort of situation and somehow, it always just works. i love them so much.   

What makes me sad about them: [sighs deeply] the fact that they both DIED DAMN IT VICTOR HUGO YOU’RE A GENIUS BUT YOU ALSO KILLED BOTH HALVES OF MY OTP.

things done in fanfic that annoys me: i don’t like when fan fiction writers do the trope of “éponine loves marius and hates cosette, woe is éponine. who will ever love her now?” (i don’t like people writing éponine loathing cosette in general tbh, there’s some envy, but not legitimate ‘i would kill you’ hate, god) and like @astoryinred said, i really dislike when people label enjolras as just a stone cold asshole with no heart. it’s like, hey, did you even read the novel? hell, even in the musical you can tell though this man is on a mission, he has SO much heart. éponine and enjolras are both capable of being terrible people, but they aren’t. both are capable of so many emotions – broaden your horizons and look into the character more, you’ll find so much more there than just “brokenhearted thief” and “charming but terrible revolutionary leader.”

things I look for in fanfic: basically everything i just described up above haha. i LOVE when people write enjolras being a huge dork. of course, he is serious, but not every single day of his entire life. i love when people write really odd scenarios in which these two meet but with no sob story about marius at all (and if she ever does meet marius in these fics, it’s all platonic folks! heck yeah friendships!). i look for creativity, i look for true to character writings tbh. 

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: i don’t ship them with anyone else but each other oops.

My happily ever after for them: i just want them both happy, making history and eventually settling down with a cute little family in a cute little house, maybe a little bit away from paris. especially when they reach older age. [éponine fretting voice: “your work is gonna kill you some day i swear to god”]

who is the big spoon/little spoon: éponine is the little spoon and enjolras is the big spoon. i am crying at the imagery of this. MY BABIES.
